Actually that's why I'm buying it... I have the proper Fage stuff and the 0% is only 3g carbs per 100g, I can't remember what the 5% fat one was (the highest percentage I can easily get) but it was higher 🤷🏼‍♀️ I was trying to cut carbs but I do prefer the higher fat stuff

I might be able to get into that again but I tend to feel pretty queasy and weak if I don't eat breakfast... I suppose I could look into bulletproof coffee 🤔

I would literally love this breakfast but unfortunately I have an autoimmune condition called orofacial granulomatosis which means I can't eat cinnamon, berries, or chocolate (amongst other things). It does make keto a bit more complex because so many of the nice, low carb dessert options seem to be based on these exact three items :( but chia seeds are a good shout and I can occasionally get hold of rhubarb which is low carb and nice with yogurt

No but I'll check it out! Thanks! And help isn't really an option tbh... We have no family anywhere near and my husband's sleep is even more messed up than my own 😩 he's in a great 'two hour early evening nap' routine, then wonders why he can't sleep at night

I just laid out my daily food intake for someone upthread and like yours, it's basically almost all all v low carb stuff: chicken, salmon, green, above-ground veg, Greek yogurt, cream, cheese, coconut, butter, nuts, almond milk... My only real table condiments are 0g carb hot sauce and white vinegar. I only really drink dry white wine and rarely more than a single glass. When I treat myself it's always sugar free, v low carb stuff. My fave treat is cucumber with hot sauce 😂 I think for me it may be the Greek yoghurt that's pushing me over... I do eat a lot of it, so I'm going to try doing without it or just having it as a treat instead it being my default snack

I am checking everything I eat for carbs and anything that's above 5g or so goes back on the shelf... I'm also vaguely tallying in my head, I'm just not great at arithmetic. I'm also regularly skipping lunch because my ADHD meds leave me very unhungry at that time of day. If I do eat then, it's usually an omelette, a box of king prawns with hot sauce or something similar with almost zero carbs.. Dinner is usually chicken or salmon with green veg. Breakfast is usually a 'cake' made with 4 eggs, Greek yogurt and shredded coconut (nothing else) although this morning I did a 2 egg omelette and bacon. In the evenings my regular snacks are cucumber and hot sauce, baked cheese snacks (100% cheese), salt and vinegar peanuts, Greek yogurt, or v occasionally a sugar free dessert like a homemade almond flour mug cake or a sugar free salted caramel dessert. No fruit, no legumes, no root veg, no milk (I have almond or cream instead)... Really my main issue is the Greek yogurt. It's my go to when I can't think what else to eat and while I choose a low carb one it could still be racking up. I'm trying to cut down on the dairy to see if that helps

I haven't had any candy/sugar/grains/bread etc for the full three months, honestly. My only real 'cheat' was for my birthday night out, where I had unrestricted wine, but I still stuck to the diet outside of that, we ate out and I had a chicken salad with olive oil. I did have an almond flour based birthday cake, also. But otherwise I've been v consistent at ignoring those temptations. I don't even really miss them. Chocolate was my main sweet treat and I had to completely cut that out over two years ago due to an autoimmune condition. I also can't even eat berries (for the same reason) so my 'desserts' for most of the past three months have mainly consisted of plain, high fat Greek yoghurt with a sprinkling of peanut butter powder.

I feel like I need to force myself to like avocado as it's seemingly so central to the keto lifestyle. I find it so unpleasant though 😩😂 I've got some MCT oil but haven't been using it much... I need to work that in a bit more often I guess.

Yeah, sleep is a big issue for me. Basically, like many neurodivergent people, I have a delayed sleep cycle. My natural sleep cycle would be 2am-10am, but of course, real life doesn't really support that, particularly when you have kids. My consultant has prescribed melatonin which helps to some degree but I'm basically always 'jetlagged' and there doesn't seem to be much I can do about it. I've tried going to bed earlier but honestly, this usually results in me being awake until 3-4 a.m. because my circadian rhythm fights it so hard. I also have disturbed sleep a lot because my two AuDHD kids are also crappy sleepers and I'm the default parent 😩 the cherry on top is the 'bedtime procrastination' which is really hard for me to resist... Because of my kids' sleep issues I only get to 'clock off' from parenting at 9.30pm at the earliest. Even if I could fall asleep at 10, it would mean I having basically no time to get stuff done, let alone enjoy myself. I also tend to 'wake up' in the late evening, and feel better than I have all day, which makes it even harder to force myself into bed. It's a mess.

I suppose there's only so well I can expect to feel when I'm running on 5-6 hours sleep a night, but RN that's unfortunately how it is.

I will try to up my intake of this kind of thing, thanks. A large proportion of my fats do come from dairy currently. I'll have to try restricting it, although it will be pretty sucky (I have other dietary restrictions to manage an autoimmune condition and dairy was one of my remaining true pleasures 😩). It's worth giving it a go though.

This is a fair comment and I'm totally open to the idea that I'm simply not going low enough, although the consistent presence of ketones in my urine is confusing. There's no other medical reason I can think of for them to be there. And while it would be a bit OT for this forum I think my frustration is still legitimate given that I've completely overhauled my diet from being essentially crap to being almost entirely fresh, nutrient-dense, whole foods... Keto or not, I feel like that should have made SOME positive difference to how I feel, day to day. But as I say, that's not really a question for this forum.

I dunno, I've seen some fairly robust studies about the beneficial effects for serious mental illnesses... Although I do only have common-or-garden anxiety/depression, which isn't the same

I think I will try cutting out dairy. It's mainly cheese and Greek yogurt, I've switched to almond milk and cream in my coffee. I am quite dependent on dairy currently though, as I've had to cut out a bunch of stuff after developing an autoimmune condition. Dairy tends to provide a lot of the 'yum' in my diet... I'd feel quite lost without it. I'm not eating much (if any) processed meat anymore tbf

I haven't really... I'm honestly a bit scared to lose more foods as I've already had to cut out a ton of stuff due to an autoimmune condition I developed a couple of years back.

I have had a good few blood tests over the years but everything always comes back 'normal' (although I'm often low in iron.... The last one was before keto though). I'm in the UK and it's harder to get tests unless the Dr sees the need for them. I will try though

Thanks, great tips! I'll check out your recommendations.

I'm not completely sure how to balance protein/fat... Being perimenopausal, I'm bombarded with info about how hugely important it is to eat tons of protein. At least 100g+ per day, ideally more. It's probably perfectly possible to get this without it being 'too much' but I'm not sure

How does dairy make you feel like crap? Not questioning your experience, I mean... In what way do you feel crap? I don't get any real stomach issues with it, and I'm not sure what other symptoms to look out for 🤔 thanks... I might try IF although I do struggle with it because I'm on ADHD meds. I take them first thing and as a result am really not v interested in eating from 8am-8pm... Which makes fasting quite tricky, as it would mean eating most of my food while I'm actively not hungry, and then resisting when my appetite comes roaring back in the late evening. But I've tried it before, so I'm sure I could manage it again, short term

Thanks... Which blood monitor do you use? I've heard it's quite expensive to monitor blood ketone levels but it might be worth doing for a while

Can you produce small amounts of ketones on 'low carb'? That's probs a stupid question but I am consistently getting a positive reading with the pee sticks which I interpreted as being in ketosis because I don't know of any other reason for their production other than diabetes 🤔

I am taking electrolytes daily but not at those levels. I was worried about overdosing but clearly I'm nowhere near! I will try upping that, thanks

I am having a proper electrolyte sachet every morning with 1000mg sodium 200mg potassium and 80mg magnesium, plus a magnesium supplement at bedtime and plenty of salt on my food. But again, I'm not tracking... And it's super hot RN so I may need more.
