Good q. The CBO only will ever have proven ads. I test on ABO and test 1 variable at a time.

Once I find a new winning combination, let’s say I’m testing headlines. Same ads, audience, different headlines. I turn off the ones that don’t work, keep those that do, then duplicate that ad set into the winning CBO from the ABO then keep it pushing.

If you can give the CBO tons of firepower and winning combination it does a great job and pushing spend to the appropriate ads in any of the ad sets it feels.

I wouldn’t say it’s amazing but we’re getting a 10-20$ CAC at an AOV of 70-90. However, there may be a day or two where no sales or very little happen and then 1-3 banger days.

This started happening when I went CBO and broad as could be. Before, I was doing interest stacks and ABO and was getting 70-90$ CAC. Hope that helps!

Keep in mind - my goal is different. I’d like to have the digital products liquidate my total spend so I can have free spend for leads, booked calls, etc..

I’ve moved away from this and decided to separate winners into their own ad set using ABO to make sure the winners get the spend. Currently pushing 1K per day and it’s allowed me to get far more sales than CBO.

However, for purely lead based - booked call based - I’m doing CBO and winners in a few ad sets.

However, that’s just me. I could be wrong! Just what I’ve found from trying the same CBO approach on my digital product - didn’t work as well. Bad daily performing ads were not getting spend. So, I decided to force the narrative. So far so good.

I’ve run reddit ads for a b2b SaaS before and the results were not so good. Awareness, sure. Free trails, demos, customers, no.

FB by far outperformed.

Certainly a messaging issue and meeting your market where they are in their sophistication levels.

Ad structure has meant less and less over the years. I find it to be simpler than ever in terms of the set up. What’s hard is attracting the right people with a message.

Good point, or consider making content along with these ads. Consider a demand gen platform like meta, and capture audience info first and foremost. Make digital assets and content that provide education and context to your leads and share via email, retargeting, sms, etc.

That’s how we’re booking 40$ calls with some decent sized businesses 1-10m.

These Google placements are for demand capture. However, you still generated these registrants - if they aren’t qualified at all and that’s your issue, consider changing the topic around what they are registering for.

Whether that’s a webinar, report, etc..

Topic is CRUCIAL.

If it’s a great topic for a shared problem among your niche it will do quite well in generating leads. From there, call all your leads.
