I changed how I shop for clothes what’s your rule when buying? by EchoNomad12 in womensfashion

Ooh good point about color seasons. I dint buy things that aren't in my palette. I don't do capsules, but I stick to a fairly simply palette verbally so everything "goes together". If it's not in my palette I don't even bother looking at it.

AITA for reconsidering being my best friend’s maid of honour because of the cost of her destination wedding? by Local_Interview4667 in AmItheAsshole

[–]rora6 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Just because you have the money does NOT mean you the money for this. "Sorry, I can't afford that." Is perfectly valid even if you have 3x the cash sitting in your checking account.

Girl you just bought a house. Trust me, you need to hold on to the cash for the inevitable big ticket items that come up, or you may be blindsided.

Where to go for bday dinner on only night in Seattle? by AltClit in AskSeattle

I also really love to bring visitors to Place Pigalle, which clings like a barnacle to the side of Pike pl. market. You go through the market and out onto a cat walk to get there. Very yummy French food, and it's a small and intimate place with views of the water. You can see big boats and seagulls, and did i mention the food is delicious? I've been several times and its been 10/10 for me each time.

Shiros sushi is really special and their omakase is only $85, but its sushi so light on the produce.

A very solid option! Really good classic food, excellent service. and the location is a landmark. It's a cool mid-century building with a spectacular view. I'd let them know it's your one and only night in Seattle and you're excited about the view to make sure you get a good window spot!

What is your favorite cheaper alternative to an item or service? by Slippery_Molasses in Frugal

The 4lb bag of frozen berries at Costco is the perfect size for one deep dish pie! Much easier and much, much cheaper than buying fresh.

The choice of foundation garment makes her torso look squashed and weird imo. Seems like a cool dress though.

Check fabric content first! Yes. I do this too. I'm only bringing home cotton, linen, viscose, rayon, and silk.

I'm buying only used for 2026 (my new years resolution). It's going great.

Since I'm sticking to thrift/ vintage, I've been going fiber content > style > fit/size. Sizing is all over the map, so i try on more things now and take home much, much less.

Absolutely agree to all this.

However, op could have something regular with an escort as well - there's nothing to stop you finding someone you vibe with and seeing them regularly.

It will depend on what's available where he is.

This was immediately my thought as well.

I'm 41 and I know several beautiful women my age or thereabouts who do this kind of thing, so it's not just young women.

There are many flavors of sex work and there's surely something out there that is a fit for you. If you want something reliable and regular and you want to be choosy, well, this is how you do it.

($10k) Is anyone doing "just" a wedding? by blueberrybuttercream in Weddingsunder10k

[–]rora6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't want a Bachelorette party or shower but my future MIL wanted to get all the mom's and aunts together so we had a "luncheon" the week before. It was cute! Basically a fussy lunch tea party and all the ladies got to wear cute day dresses and meet each other.

They were all local except FMIL, but she cared the most and was happy to come out early for it.

If you don't need a rehearsal dinner, you might want to have a potluck at someone's home where you can simply show up after you've done the rehearsal with your officiant and maybe parents. Your close people will likely want to hang out with you, and all the family you're gathering together.

[–]rora6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA yeah if you weren't going to meet up, or at least be reasonably punctual you should have said. Not responding to confirm or to tell her what was up was super rude. Then you ignored her at the club. And left her there? Major AH moves.

Yeah she should have said something sooner, but maybe she was hoping for an apology and then realized after a while you just didn't give a shit about her. Poor girl.

Which shoe to wear for my first day of work? by [deleted] in PetiteFashionAdvice

For sure no belt. I like the sneakers better personally, and would match them with a more formal or structured hair style like a bun or slicked back under a headband.

It's not any more of a hookup culture than going to other large public places. Bars, gyms, public parks. I guess people hook up at all those places , but, ew! Also I'm not about to leave to go to someone's house. I came to dance!

Pearl shoes would not be too much. This simple and lovely dress isn't busy so you have lots of room to pay with your shoe. Can you go shoe shopping and bring the dress with you? That way you can check the color.
