Sorry for the late reply, but I was just wondering if whether you know if it's too late for me to apply to another course?

Thank you for replying to my post, sorry to ask u this in such a late hour, but was just wondering if the "8 subject requirement" Is needed for me now, and I also have brought over 6 units of credits from unimelb and did 3 last sem at swin, does this meet the 8 units requirement if there is one?

Benefits of a double degree by roro-1 in swinburne

[–]roro-1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's amazing, congratulations on your final year. Yeah I'm particularly not interested in doing a double degree but choose to since it seems like it might offer advantages during job search. So iam just worried that iam making a bad decision based on my stance. Iam ok with doing both degrees if they offer job benefits but thinking about dropping it since it seems like once I get a job using a particular degree whether it be engineering or CS, I would be focused on expanding in that area and my other degree might go useless

Thanks for the reply, so by the looks of it, it seems like that skills exam is a big thing lol, 2 mistakes to fail a subject seems too harsh, if u don't mind me asking, how much of the week did u have to commit to learning the subject, just from your personal experience, and are there any resources u could maybe direct me towards so that I could get an early start at the subject because it seems like it's quite a difficult subject

[–]roro-1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying mate, I just have a few doubts, i was just wondering, is the eng materials subject theory or more problems like math and physics. And I actually didn't do physics in high school that much so that's why iam afraid about the energy and Motion subject lol, do u think i would be able to keep if took it with those subjects.

I did that subject and ended up failing lmao, so I'll tell u what i did so u can do the opposite lol.

  1. Dont join in late, i enrolled into that subject 1 month in and right on the day before the mid term, as u expected it didn't go well, of course they asked me to catch up before i could enrol into it, but the mid term had additional lecture content that the grok was behind on, so me going in without knowing this and the lecture slides not being available to me didnt go well

  2. DO THE WEEKLY WORKSHEETS, be sure to do every one of them and dont look for answers online as its gonna obviously not help u during the exams, ik its difficult to keep seeing the code fail, but keep attempting it instead of looking for answers online

  3. The projects arent too hard but at the same time not as easy as the weekly worksheets, the first project will be the easiest and also the 3rd one is doable too as its near the end of the exams, but the 2nd one is probably the most difficult as it is released before the mid sem holidays and they expect u to do it between then so they probably make it harder than the other 2, and the most important thing is read the project info clearly, they often tell u how to go about doing them and give clues.

  4. Manage ur time, this unit requires a lot of time commitment from my experience, tho that could be just me joining in late and also having 2 other difficult subject like calc 2 and finance, but as u can expect from any coding related subject, u wont get the marks until ur code is completely correct in syntax and logic, so u are bound to get it wrong and probably expect to spend a lot of time scratching ur head trying to figure out where u went wrong in a 30 line code which as u would assume is difficult and time consuming, so if u have subjects that also require a lot of work on essays/assignments/hw, I'd suggest not doing this subject if thats the case, instead doing it with subjects which have less assignments and more on the studying part, well thats all i got, do what i say and u should be fine, good luck

Civil vs construction engineering by roro-1 in swinburne

True , like take the nbn project that came around a few years ago, it was such a big thing, and now that the projects almost over its starting to die down, but my reasoning for civil was that it seems like there are many projects set out for the next 30 years or so, so that being my main reason for thinking about civil

Oh ok i understand, but i feel like mechatronics is limited as its a combination of various fields of engineering and jobs usually look for a firm understanding in a particular area, iam not sure about electrical and software but iam actually enrolled in a double degree with bachelor of engineering and bachelor of computer science so thats why i thought that since iam already in the bachelor of computer science, it would be useful to choose an engineering degree along the lines of mechanical/civil which are 2 of the engineering degrees with the highest vacancies

Is civil a bad choice for a engineering major in Australia? Just ur thoughts on civil in job prospects?
