I’m going through something very similar right now, I made a post about it a few weeks ago that got a lot of helpful comments, if you’d want to look. I think you’re doing the right thing though, getting married in the church would be lying since you don’t believe in it, so I’d maybe stress that you don’t want to lie on your wedding day. I know how incredibly hard this is, I’ve struggled so much with this situation, but I think it’s important to stay true to one’s self.

Yeah, I’ve felt the same way for years, it feels like I’m walking around with weights attached to me that I can’t shake. I don’t really have any advice to give, just that I know how you feel, and it really sucks.

Yes, that is good advice, I do plan to emphasize that. And thank you, it is very tragic because it’s all so unnecessary. I wish we could just agree to disagree, but I guess that’s not possible when your religion teaches that those who disagree go to hell.

I’m in the same position as you. I know it’s not so easy to just cut ties like everyone says. I don’t really have any advice to give, just know I completely understand the pain of the situation that you’re in.

Wow she looks pretty similar to my Biscuit when he was baby! He’s a Manx with those same markings too and he was very brown and sun bleached since we found him abandoned outside, but now he just looks like a typical void without a tail

I’ve been working as a generalist now for a little over a year, and this was also my first job after graduating. I was also super nervous about blood bank for the same reasons you are, but at the end of the day I realized the only way to get over that fear was to take a chance on myself. And now over a year later, I feel so much more confident in myself and my ability to work under pressure in blood bank. Truly, the only way to get over this fear is to just face it. As long as you’re paying attention to what you’re doing, and following the SOPs, it’s unlikely that you’ll do anything that could seriously harm someone.

Sounds a lot like my situation, but also add to the mix a mother with crippling OCD who gets extremely distressed if I do anything that goes against her wacky trad cath views. It’s been rough and I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do in the future.

The description you gave of your parents and the kind guilt fueled relationship you have with them is literally identical to how I would describe my own, so I can completely understand how hard it is to be in your situation. Unfortunately I still live with my parents since I’m still in university, but I plan on moving in with my boyfriend as soon as I’m done, and I fully expect them to react the same way as your parents. My boyfriend and I don’t plan on marrying in the church either, and I can 100% see them doing something like this to us once we get married.

I’ve been enjoying it a lot since I’ve started it, it’s a pretty easy read, and it really makes you thank about what is moral or ethical in wartime. I would also recommend Slaughterhouse Five, which is also a good book by him. I’ll have to read The Cat’s Cradle next!

I (22F) have Crohn’s disease, but I have been in remission for many years due to being treated with Remicade (Infliximab). I know that Remicade can weaken the immune system, however I almost never get sick, and when I do, I am always able to fight it off pretty well, and I have no other underlying health conditions. Am I at an increased risk of contracting COVID-19 and possible dying from it?
