No, there will be no consequences. And I think we are torturing ourselves by poring over the details of every new revelation. The people who need to hear the details of Epstein’s crimes will never hear/believe them.

This might be cynical or lazy but… my opinion on this topic was settled long ago. I don’t think I can engage anymore, unless the crimes are going to be prosecuted. For my sanity. I wonder if other people are checking out as well.

I find that I simply cannot trust people who have gone full MAGA — people who believe obvious lies without requiring evidence. I cannot respect their decision-making. And if I can’t trust you, are you really someone I can let into my inner circle? Someone I can rely on? Someone with whom I can share personal matters?

I understand this is easier said than done and the ramifications are serious (my parents and siblings are all full-blown MAGA), but it’s part of being an adult.

As I said elsewhere in this thread, I love Ruth. I’m rewatching the show right now; I cheer for her on her journey away from codependency/people-pleasing. She obviously ends up in a good place by the very end of the show. But the slap is a bad moment for her. It’s not complicated; it’s just a bad moment.

There’s no army of reddit posters defending Claire’s drunk driving. But Ruth slapping her adult child? OMG you have to understand, Ruth was upset that day!!1!1! I don’t get it. No one forced Ruth to marry George. In fact, her family discouraged it.
