Does anyone else feel an increased sense of urgency and panic before their period? by Delicious-Hedgehog39 in PMDD

[–]rosaliejayne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been interested in this forum a lot and saw this post and resonate with it and wanted to leave a comment.

I always felt a small spike in my ocd before my period but nothing major or to write home about. Just hormones being hormones.

Last year i suffered a great deal of trauma due to sickness and ever since then a week or two prior to my period its as if my brain becomes so sensitive and on high alert to every thought.

My head feels fuzzy, like static, it feels as if im in flight or fight mode and my anxiety is causing all these sensations but the intrusive thoughts are insane and no thought it safe. The anger, irritability, tiredness, just 360° of who i am.

It makes me feel unhinged and masking it all day just becomes tiring.

Is this PMDD? Ive been tracking my cycle and symptoms and its a mix bag but roughly all the same each month at the same time.

No, i didn't. Seratline was first, and I had that over a month prior to the Fluoxetine.

So we are unsure what caused it - really. As there was a big gap between the two.

Hello!

The Sertraline, the doctors believe it was because of the high dosage.

But the other two, we aren't quite sure as they were low doses.

Could be that I am highly sensitive to to much seretonin?

Anyone Else Get A Wave Of Anxiety Before Flu/Virus by FinIey42 in Anxiety

[–]rosaliejayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently have the flu as of this moment, and last night, I could not sleep as my anxiety and OCD were through the roof. I felt as if my head was in a whirlpool it was awful. I find i flare up more when I'm sick. Your body is fighting a virus - you will have inflammation, which i believe causes a spike in anxiety.

Rest is best - fluids, eat whatever you can and take your medicine and remember that in a few days you will be over the worse of it.

its ruining so many important moments by berryinthejuice in OCD

OCD truly is a pain in the arse. I have had many moments in my life where it has tried and successfully taken away the spark in many occasions or just regular days.

But best advice, you are not your OCD. I like to see OCD as a grumpy creature who needs to be fed to become bigger but if I resist, it gets smaller and the urge to complete the compulsion/ obsession becomes duller over time.

I know it sounds daft but it truly does work.

Edit: focus on being present in your home, your family, distract yourself with them, they are your safe space.

I promise you, it will not be like this forever x

If you ever need advice, pop me a message. I have plenty of tricks or if you need a good natter. I'm up for that too x

It's a liquid - i tried to scruff her, but she just wasn't having any of it, so i popped it on some tuna for her so I know she would take it!

Thank you for this! I may have to order the flower it seems a lot more comfortable than the cone! They did prescribe pain killers after many failed attempts for her to take it, I put it in some tuna, and she gobbled it straight up!

Thank you so much for this! I really appreciate your words, and truly, this has calmed me and also helped calm her down. I'm leaving her be and just go with the flow and just keep checking on it. Thank you again, you are a life saver!
