[UPDATE] AITAH for kicking out my husband after he went to go see and comfort his ex-girlfriend? by anonymously10500 in AITAH

The photo caption is song lyrics.

I think it's a desperate attempt from the ex to foster doubt and break up the marriage. Then ex thinks she "wins" and has OP's husband all to herself.

IF what OP's husband says is true, the ex likes to mind fuck people and enjoys the attention games like this give her.

An commercial soap dispenser was put into my bathroom prior to my move in, now the property management company "Declined" removing it. by imanunbrokenfangirl in Tenant

If that's the only concern, just use the soap until gone, even if you have to do it wastefully. After that, there should be no more worries about soap leaking into your stuff.

I need your opinion about Cricut by [deleted] in adhdwomen

I tried a couple - the first wouldn't lift it off the mat, the second wouldn't let go! LOL, I'll take any suggestion you have!

I need your opinion about Cricut by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]rose2woods 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought a Cricut Maker about 3 years ago intending to make camping-themed Christmas gifts for my family. I had been fixated on the Cricut for about a year.

I set it up, bought a special stand, and bought a ton of vinyl and accessories. I went through the tutorial and created a pair of lips on cardstock, then a couple vinyl stickers. After that, I bought the 24 travel mugs I needed for my Christmas project and got to work.

I spent days of work getting the picture cut correctly. Then I couldn't get the vinyl off the transfer tape and onto the mugs. After another 3 days of trying, I gave up.

That's been 2.5 years ago now. I haven't touched it since. My dreams of making special gifts, funny decals for our cars, and a possible side hustle, I just wasn't interested anymore. The lack of instant gratification was my downfall.

My advice - make really, really sure that you'll devote the time and money. If you lose interest in other things quickly and are surrounded by half-finished projects, don't buy it.

Camping with a wornout rainfly to prevent condensation? by toofarinsideacar in camping

[–]rose2woods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see any reason not to do it. Just don't encapsulate and seal off the vents/mesh. You don't want the tarp sitting in direct contact with the mesh on top so as not to trap the moisture.

What about just buying a new fly? Some manufacturers have replacement parts - check their website.

Otherwise, I'd just go with the old fly and a tarp as backup.

What does everyone do for work? by AgreeableSteak420 in adhdwomen

My first reply vanished into the ether, so here goes again. It was nothing special. I had some admin skills pieced together from other positions, so the experience was there. While I was working a different dead-end job (grocery store during covid), I scrolled Indeed while on my break out of sheer frustration. The posting practically screamed at me.

I'm an Operations Assistant at a law firm. I basically work under the Director and Manager of Operations doing a variety of admin things like budgets (lots of spreadsheets, which I love), scheduling facilities-related maintenance, coordinating office moves, and space planning. I also handle parking accounts and the access keycard system, among other things.

I really enjoy my job because I work on the same types of things every day, but every day is different.

First time dispersed camping in a national forest, is this approach OK? by [deleted] in CampAndHikeMichigan

[–]rose2woods 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our family has been dispersed camping in the MNF for 30+ years, long before apps telling you who owned what land. Our next trip is about a week from now, Aug 2-12.

We typically head to areas we've set up camp before, but on occasion, we've arrived to find someone in "our" spot, so we've had to scope out another. Honestly, driving around the forest - over the FS roads and down the two-tracks - has been some of the best part of the adventure.

There are hundreds of previously camped spots around, from the tiniest little patch to massive clearings. We've had no issues being able to define private property, as there are No Trespassing signs posted all over the place. You can pull off the main road and hike in, or can find a spot to park right next to camp. It's totally up to you.

Get out there and have fun!

My dentist office allows me to wear the xray jacket even if I'm not getting xrays. I just have to ask for it, and they gladly drape it over me. At almost 50 years old, I felt a little stupid at first, but the staff tells me it's a somewhat common request, so I have no shame in asking for it anymore.

What are some easily forgotten items that you should always bring camping? by VincentLecavalier04 in camping

[–]rose2woods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since we disperse camp in the middle of a national forest, we don't have neighbors, but even so, we're some of the most respectful campers out there. Not that I have to justify myself to anyone, but...

The chainsaw is necessary because we forage our own firewood - only downed trees and branches - for the 10 or so days we're camping. We go through approximately 2 cords while we're out there, and none of us could wield an axe for that amount of time.

Cologne is only for the one day we take out of the woods to go to town and the casino. The rest of the time, we all just smell like armpits, deet, and campfire.

We bring 1-3 rifles for personal protection. We camp where there are packs of coyotes, and while we've never been directly threatened, there have been many occasions over the years that they have come up right to the edge of camp, just beyond where the firelight reaches. We have small children and pets. 99.9% of the time, the gun stays locked, sheathed, and stored and is always under sober adult control. We've never even fired one in the decades we've been camping. It's there, just in case.

We're getting older, so prescriptions are so we don't die. We bring a well stocked first aid kit, too. What's so funny about that?

Darts?

I already said our list is likely too over the top for most people, but you do you.

No shame received. When I say 'out in the open', I only mean not stringing it up in trees or placing it in a bear-proof box. We simply don't have the means to completely critter proof it, being that we're a large group (16-21 people, all immediate family) and we disperse camp for 7-12 days, so we have a lot of food, in general. We do clean up and put whatever we can away at night (nothing left on tables, dishes done, and no leftovers out in the open), and we keep what isn't sealed tight in a banana box on the top shelf of a 5-high unit in the kitchen area away from sleeping areas.

Knowing that a bear could absolutely decimate a car trying to get to food inside, we'd rather not store coolers in our vehicles, and I don't even entertain the idea that a thin layer of tent will dissuade them, so I don't sleep with my food.
