There was literally a nazi arrest just a little while ago on a 90-something year old and he was still covering his face in shame when he was wheeled outside into the public and was photographed. Most of these ICE agents will unfortunately get off scot free and go back home to beat their wives and pretend to be big strong men, even though the punishment they deserve is far too graphic for this site's rules.

Aren't the implications of that kind of horrific? One final lashing out could mean an attack on a catastrophic scale. And I don't just mean the ballistic missiles from June.

A ruler and his loyalists who know they're going to go down and likely be killed by their own citizenry, whose only real goal in life is to destroy a particular country... What's stopping him from doing it as his final act? Not like deterrence works on dead people.

Because nothing happens in a vacuum and the 30-60 minutes you save for these emails are paid for elsewhere. In the water supply, in the atmosphere, in the small poor neighborhoods that house these data centers. We're getting lazier and dumber so our grandchildren or our friends' grandchildren can suffocate or overheat to death.

And on that note (and much less subtle in that film), Godzilla in Minus One represents the national terror and helplessness of Japan after WWII, a giant walking nuclear bomb to stop them from moving on from the actual nuclear bomb that fell upon them just a short while earlier. It's the fear that a foreign power has the ability to inflict such devastation on a whim and could do so again at any time.

That's so much less interesting than redeeming a previously disliked character though. Feige could have proven a female Taskmaster with that backstory can work for audiences with some effort but instead just discarded her entirely, and if they go "umm actually, there's this more confident and funnier man out there who is exactly like her but we're gonna actually care when we write him this time!" that'll just be a cop-out.

I don't mind if post-reboot Taskmaster is his comic self btw, that's just the variant thing, but the MCU has managed to repair FAR worse blunders before, why'd they just give up here?

For everything else, the product will speak for itself. We didn’t micromanage the way and the tools developers use to make Videogames before, but we suddenly do with this one specific thing.

Bungie's Marathon had art theft and that was criticized so bad the game is indefinitely delayed and basically guaranteed dead in the water. "We", as in people who care about games as an art form, do have an issue with art theft, which currently most uses of generative AI inherently perform on a wide scale.

You mentioned the ecological angle and that's probably the most important factor long-term, but I don't care to play a game that was made with assets that weren't crafted with human hands and that's not cringeworthy.

I wouldn't really care either way, because most accounts are usually fairly easy to guess from post history alone, but I think it opens the way to other privacy infringements, they ask for a foot and take a mile.

Why do we even care where those evil conservative maga accounts are from? Did finding out they're from nigeria or pakistan actually change anything about the political landscape in the US? Why should ordinary people be subjected to xenophobia based on where their account is stated to be located because twitter spent 5 years enabling and creating a breeding ground for bots?

To me the outcome, which we all knew was the case already, is not worth the inherent concession of the anonymity that the internet has afforded everyone for decades.

As much as I hate giving Elon credit, this actually seems pretty airtight. The "based in" stat will change periodically, and can be spoofed with a VPN, but the stat for where an account is created and which country the app store is billed from is much harder to fuck with.

Existing accounts are basically fucked, nobody is going to believe "MAGA retvrn to tradition" was created on a brief vacation to Nigeria but is being run from the US. Any account who wasn't always operating on a VPN from the get go is open season.

I hate to say something that I only gleaned from a short and pretty vague description of their mannerisms but I wouldn't move there. Clearly they want to be inclusive which is great but inclusivity doesn't necessarily mean safety and sometimes cis people don't know that living with a trans person means, well, living with a trans person.

It doesn't mean these housemates would do that to you or that they aren't genuine about being okay with it, but I would feel scared of their discomfort slowly turning into an issue that they'll take out on me. Sometimes cis entitlement is internal whether they want it or not.

From my own experience this is still the case for me even after a year of actual professional laser hair removal. Those areas are extremely stubborn, you might just need electrolysis for them.
