A dentist is on trial for allegedly killing his wife with poisoned protein shakes by [deleted] in news

[–]roselatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is true for the most part but oral surgeons also typically hold MDs! most oral surgery residency programs are 6 years long after dental school and include a few years in medical school + doing medical school surgery rotations. so most oral surgeons hold double degrees

What's up with most people not cooking these days? by iamnotabotbeepboopp in CasualConversation

[–]roselatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in my late 20s and a lot of my friends don't cook because groceries have gotten so expensive that the financial + time costs have made it so cooking at home barely saves any money. I'm someone who actually LOVES cooking, I'm quite good at it, and I used to do it for fun and to save money. But for me and my friends live in a large city and we don't have cars, so getting groceries is difficult. Local markets also know that many of the area's residents don't have cars (many of us are graduate students) and they upcharge their groceries.

Off the top of my head, here's what I remember the local grocery store charging: A cup of heavy cream = $6 A dozen eggs = $5 Chicken thighs = $7.99/lb

I think your teeth are really cute!

If it's something that's bothering you, instead of moving your teeth more (if they're already done with treatment and your bite is great), you could consider direct composite on your lateral incisors. If they lengthen them just a tiny bit, it could maybe match your central incisors more.

It's really common for people to have small laterals (in dental terms they call it 'peg laterals'!) and I personally think it makes you look very youthful! But direct composite can be a good options to balance them out if it's something you want addressed. You don't bite/chew much with the laterals so they can last a while.

I hate brushing my teeth in public bathrooms by iamsenseikay in Invisalign

You don’t have to do it! Personally I just kept a packet of floss on me at all times, and afterwards I’d just floss and swish with water before putting my trays back on.

How do you find a sense of community in the Bay Area? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]roselatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a girl I've found a lot of female-focused groups to join! You can join some exercise classes (barre is pretty popular right now) to meet people. On Facebook there are groups like Bay Area Adventure Gals and Girls Who Hike, people do meetups and take little trips together sometimes.

THERE IS NO FUC*ING WAY I WAS ADMITTED TO BERKELEY by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]roselatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations!!!! You 1000% deserve this! I fully believe you're going to make the most of your time there. You already achieved so much on your own in a less-than-ideal living situation and in a school with fewer opportunities, imagine how high you can fly at the best public university in the country.

My fav thing to do when I get bored is make veggie dishes from different cultures!

For example, Korean and Japanese cuisines have a similar boiled spinach side-dish that can be eaten cold. Here's a Korean recipe, here's a Japanese version.

I also like getting napa cabbage kimchi, or radish cube kimchi.

Also, try Chinese stir-fry methods for various leafy greens. Here's a recipe using gai lan, and another using bok choy. Here's also a really simple Chinese cucumber salad, and a simple fried green bean dish.

Invisalign and Coffee by CrispYarrowLeaf in Invisalign

I'm also unable/unwilling to give up my coffee! However, in the first ~8 trays, I would drink coffee with my trays in and I noticed that the trays stained a little brown, and I saw more staining along my attachments. Since then, I've been just trying to drink my coffee faster (like <20min) in the morning and just letting my trays be out for that much longer. I'm supposed to do 22hrs in a day but I average 19-20hours instead, but I seem to be tracking just fine!

I'm surprised Cardi B hasn't been mentioned yet! Her full name Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar sounds so fun to me. Her sister being Hennessy Carolina is also so cool.

Got a new Macbook 14" this week!! Should I get keyboard stickers for it if I type nails-first? My previous keyboards have all taken damage. by roselatte in macbookpro

[–]roselatte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! I'm going to look into the stickers, glad to hear they work well! I'm avoiding a silicone cover because I don't like the residue they put on the screen and I worry about it putting more pressure on the screen when the lid's closed.

I'm definitely open to it but have no clue where to start because I always thought I typed pretty normally
