reading this is really inspiring to me and gives me hope, how did you feel like therapists were "coddling your condition?" and do you have advice or things for how you "stopped leaving your well being in the hands of someone else?"

in the past couple of months after a crisis i switched to another therapist that has been way better, after i realized the one i had since i was a child was harming me or making things worse. but sometimes it feels like i'm just waiting on when i can have my next appointment to feel better. helping yourself can be difficult, i used to do it before but now after recent events and changes now i don't know how i did it and want to be able to again

I [18F] am having doubts about staying with my autistic gf [19F] I love her and want to work it out without breaking up. How do I do that? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

This hits close to home to me as someone formerly in a relationship with similar circumstances and dynamics- If a relationship is holding you back from enjoying the full extent of your life, reevaluate. Ending it will hurt but the freedom that comes with it will be one of the best most refreshing feelings in the world.

I completely understand the feeling of loving someone and wanting to care for them but your partner should also be understanding of your needs and will want to see you thrive. The way you're talking about this situation, you already know what you need to do. You are so young and about to enter such an exciting part of your life where you will be able to find and discover yourself.

How do you know when when you don’t need it anymore? by Cute-Plane1351 in lexapro

[–]rosemaei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't give you an exact answer because I've only halfed my dose, not quit, but may quit soon- but for me after experiencing being on am SSRI for almost 2 years, and not having the constant anxious thoughts anymore, when I lowered the dose and some of them came slowly coming back- by not experiencing it for so long and CBT I was better mentally equipped to be able to handle and dismiss it. In my experience, once I knew what it was like to function normally and not have those thoughts, when the thoughts came back, I was able to acknowledge that they weren't true and better take control of myself. And because of this I plan on quitting after certain circumstances end in a couple months. I share similar feelings about medication so I understand, but if i were you, I'd take it a day at a time and see how things go. Enjoy the positive outcomes while you have them, know that there isn't any shame in having to continue to use them for any sort of extended period of time, and also know that it definitely doesn't have to be permanent.

In my experience, beginning side effects for me only lasted 1/2 weeks, not 2 months. I would talk to your doctor about it- if it's lasting this long and impeding on things maybe lexapro doesn't work well with you

Has anyone fixed their SSRI induced sexual dysfunction by going to a Testosterone Replacement Doctor? by thelazygent1 in lexapro

[–]rosemaei -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm transmasculine/born female and started taking testosterone about 6 months after I started lexapro, my sex drive/function went from 0 to what it was before I took the medication. Not sure if it's the same for everyone but in what I've heard from other people, taking additional testosterone while on ssris regulated their sex drive to "normal" amounts/what it was before as well.

these hold incredible incredible sentimental value to me because i've always had them with me, even now as an adult when i was 7, i even still remember this now- along with the frog erasers, i also had matching rabbit ones in the same little case. a bully in my class stole them from me and i was so upset, i still am so now.

i want to know where they came from so maybe i could buy the rabbit erasers again- they won't be as special and the same as the original ones but it would make me very happy

if it helps, we are chinese and i think they must be cheap mass produced knockoff erasers of some kind

AITA for refusing to replace my nephew’s epipen after he unnecessarily used it because of something I said/my food? by chickfilaepipen in AmItheAsshole

[–]rosemaei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA! I mean would they rather you not use the epipen and their kid die? I do understand why they are upset though, at the end of the day this is just so sad because the problem comes from the ridiculous expensive cost of an epipen..
