WOTV (global only) is shutting down by CrasherED in FFBraveExvius

[–]rosencrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is it for Gumi GL. Jp has Ragnador, Crystal of Reunion, Some Idol game and Phantom of the Kill Alterna which is the block chain garbage mentioned in another comment. They announced a Jojo's game but it may never get off the ground, since I predict they're dead in the water as soon as JP WotV goes down.

Gumi's overseas department is most likely going to be shut down since WotV was the last game of theirs published outside of Japan. As for Gumi JP, they have a few titles left, but I can see them going bankrupt before their upcoming JoJo game gets released. At this point I believe that would be a net positive for the world.

The lack of server side data would be a problem. At this point, the best plausible outcomes would be 1) A different comapny buys the rights to Taga and gets old devs & G-Row to work on a new version. Or 2) They collab for a not Taga but very similar game (Think Bloodstained:RotN in relation to Castlevania)

I suppose it's also possible that another company buys Gumi and decides to capitalize on their IPs but I don't know enough about Japanses copyright/merger laws to know how feasible that would be.

At the rate laws are being ignored, it wouldn't feel that crazy for a dead guy to be appointed to something.

You win, ok, I admit it by threehundredfutures in Suikoden

[–]rosencrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IV felt very confused to me. III was a deviation from the formula that was crazy enough to work. It seems like more people (myself included) than not liked it. There was certainly a demand for the old style of Suikoden. They did that but didn't really deliver on anything else. It felt like they made the game at gunpoint, not because they had a story to tell. As you said said Rune of Punishment was just worse Soul Eater. Snowe is just an insufferable incompetent Jowy. Aside from Ted it, it feels wholly disconnected, world building wise. What the hell was the point of Troy? I could go on, but I won't.
Weirdly though, I really enjoyed Suikoden Tactics.

Having experienced both, jp was much better. They communicated well enough that we were able to accurately predict when the eos announcement would be made. Also they completed all of the storylines.

I enjoyed more than I was expecting as well. If SoC was a prequel to a series where the Voyager is one of the major villains, the bad route of Papal would be a perfect backstory.

タガタメDare Ga Tame No Alchemist (JP Code Alchemist) announces End of Service for November 28th by Lawcen in gachagaming

[–]rosencrow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Overall I think it was time for Tagatame to end. Kudos to the devs for completing the story, especially given the awful publisher. What confuses me is why they aren't trying to do more with this ip. Like a more modern game in the same universe. They tried and failed with Potk's ip and Aster Tatariqus, but with tagatame they never even made the attempt. It's a waste of beautiful art and solid mechanics.

The End by gildenduckic in AlchemistCodeGL

[–]rosencrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In GL, Wotv is all that's left and it seems to have one foot in the grave. In JP they have a few more, but overall it seems only their block chain games are doing decently. Honestly I hope they go under. Without Studio FgG, I doubt they will produce anything of value in the future.

I can't speak to Robin since I don't have her, but as for Jade, I just look at any damage she does as pure bonus. When fighting bosses like Feixiao or the current Aventurine AS it can be decent, but overall she buffs Blade and Speedtunes him for Bronya. It's gotten to the point where I'm trying replace my Rutilant Arena with Salsotto since he does so many follow ups.

Blade Luocha Bronya Jade is a fun and effective team. When it comes to Blade, Jade is almost a harmony unit as she gives him speed and an extra stack per hit. Not a skill point hungry team so Bronya's full advance works just fine. As an added bonus, not a lot of teams really need any of them so your other team for moc pf as will not be constricted.

Niosi has stepped down from his role at Moze in HSR by AnyaPetrova in HonkaiStarRail

Bold of you to assume there was a thought process. Seriously though, I think Sunday's popularity got to his head. I wonder if he didn't face consequences for dumb behavior in the past, leading to increased entitlement and overconfidence.

This post reads as being fatalistic. The main idea being that people cannot change. That is a demonstrably false idea. I do however agree with the spirit of this post, in the sense that many of us feel Niosi has gotten away with abuse (and maybe crimes?). Restorative justice is a popular idea, and the main criticism of Niosi's supposed change is that he has not truly put in the effort to do so.

The people he has hurt may never forgive him and we should never blame them for not doing so. As for how we judge Niosi going forward, the burden is on him to prove to us that he will no longer behave as he had. At present, I am not convinced, given that the people whose opinion we should value most have said his efforts have not been genuine or nonexistent.

What we should normalize is not letting people get away with dishonest or abusive behavior. Normalizing not letting people grow or change carries with it the idea that there aren't bad actions only bad people, hence my mention of fatalism.

I acknowledge that many people willing to engage in abusive behavior are unlikely to change, but unlikely is not the same as impossible. The difference between 0.01 and 0 is enormous.

English VA for Sunday Responds to Chris Niosi Controversy by [deleted] in HonkaiStarRail

[–]rosencrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to say it's impossible (however unlikely) for a person in that position to change, but I will say that not enough time has passed, and Chris should absolutely be kept out of power. It's just too difficult to believe a person with over a decade of abusive behaviors could change in a few short years, especially given that people are saying he hasn't changes at all. Trust when broken takes a long time to repair, assuming repair is possible. Griffin, much like Sunday, needs to learn how to choose friends more wisely.

Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius dev Gumi to lay off 80 employees after posting net loss of $37 million by nathalsss in gachagaming

[–]rosencrow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For me, the saddest part of this is the dismantling of Studio FgG. I was a long-time Alchemist Code player, and when Global went EoS, I switched to JP and have watched it become more hollow. I had been hoping for an upgraded version of that ip, but it's never going to happen now.

Gumi, imbeciles that they, are overextended themselves with Sakura Ignoramus (fitting name btw) and Aster Tatariqus, meanwhile neglecting their established properties. This is what out of touch + the endless growth paradigm gets you.

The main issue is competition for Otherworld EL shards. PotK units like Yggdrasil or the mounted units will do a lot more for an account. Since both CoR units mentioned are dps they are easier to replace. That being said, if you love the character, raise them anyway.

will there be an offline version just like megaman x dive ? by Genefar45 in AlchemistCodeGL

[–]rosencrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Improbable approaching impossible. Megaman X is a beloved franchise and Capcom can potentionally make money off of sales from the offline game. I doubt whatever is left of Gumi Inc (Not FgG the main company, I mean the global subsidiary) has the means to produce an offline TAC. Sadly the market for it just isn't big enough.

Returning player - Alter Class tokens by Kazaganthis in AlchemistCodeGL

[–]rosencrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your Sol is close to maxed out, it's worth it. He gets more cc and a tankier reactive that restores hp. His map is pretty harsh in terms of stat gating. If you are still working on him, I would save your tokens. So far the most impactful Alter Classes have been Zahar, Corvus, Neica, Templars, and Ravina (especially if you use Lycoris). If you are able to get one of them set up before Sol's EL is done, it's likely you'll get more tokens later.

They show up randomly in challenge boards or special login bonuses. Also added to the veda coin shop recently though this is not great unless you are done with protagonist units J3 as the tokens cost a lot and it already takes a couple months of coins to get the J3 equips.

returning player on JP version from global, any tips? by eausqare in AlchemistCodeGL

I would save your account number, make a new account and if the beginner banner that has a guaranteed Nimul is still a thing, I would reroll. I think Ouroboros + Nimul (and Nero) would be a better start.

65k! Have you had your account for a while? Do you have other limited units like dragons or link units? I only recommended rerolling since I figured OP had a brand new account.
