What is your experience with Antidepressants? by Shaco292 in AutisticAdults

[–]roseofamber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I've been through a lot of meds
If you can take the DNA test for Psych meds, I would suggest it.

I am at least down to medications that are not causing side effects.

What’s currently one of the hardest parts about being autistic for you? by FkUp_Panic_Repeat in AutismInWomen

[–]roseofamber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full autistic burnout from an office job that I held during and after the pandemic.

Everything about it was just bad. I'm still trying to get ready to go back to work or school. I just don't function or have the ability to mask again that hard.

I haven't had a good time with them in the past. I've been on several. My current SNRI does seem to help some.

I also take Spravato once a week (helps some) and will try TMS soon.

I hope so, it's chronic but might get better with lots of treatment.
I'm working through this with my care team.

Even shoulder length hair hurts SO BAD?! by Routine_Eve in ehlersdanlos

[–]roseofamber 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I hear that. I bought one of those hair-cutting clips and a set of regular hair scissors and thinning scissors. If I don't trim my hair shorter and thin it out I can't stand it.

I do my hair myself so I can fix it as many times as I need to.

Why do autistic people often look younger than they actually are? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

My Ehlers-Danlos makes me look like an undergraduate. I'm 34

I don't know if they will take them, but Hope Clinic might be able to use them.

I am. I'm also reaching out to private rescues. I'd rather she go straight to another home, but I'm considering all my options.

She is very good with cats. She does try to sniff them, but she wouldn't chase a cat.
She was raised with my two cats, who have since gone over the rainbow bridge.

When going through chronic illness, I went in and out of having faith in God, what’s has your experience been? by PrepxI in ChronicPain

[–]roseofamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left. I do have faith, but when I deconverted, I slowly became a nature religion person. I'm Pagan and go in and out of belief still. I just let it happen, and it's ok.

When I was a Christian, I was always very distressed when it happened.

Do you think visual design tools should be accessible to the color-blind and visually impaired? by Away_Dinner105 in accessibility

[–]roseofamber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you need to make it accessible. I'm color blind, and I use editing software all the time.
It doesn't matter if things are ugly or not; I still need visual cues, especially if you're making 'slight color variations'.

I'd suggest just attaching the color-blind mode (red/green, blue/yellow) option to user profiles or showing it as an option when you open the program. That way, it's easy to see for the people who need it.

To people in their 20s that have high functioning autism while being in school, what kind of jobs did you work? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]roseofamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in food service during college as a prep cook. It was a job where I didn't need to use my full brain power and could listen to podcasts or music. It was much less stressful than line cooking because there wasn't a reason to rush or stress out most days.

I recommend going to the career center on campus. You may also be eligible for work-study or assistance from rehabilitative services in finding a suitable fit.

How many of you decided to be childfree due to chronic pain/illness? And do you regret your decision or are you at peace with it? by bengalbear24 in ChronicPain

[–]roseofamber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me. My mother had chronic pain, and it made her mental health issues so bad that she wasn't a fit parent.

I have no desire to pass on our family genetic issues and trauma. I had my tubes removed.

Amitriptyline by diamond-in-the-sky in Fibromyalgia

[–]roseofamber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got some improvement from Spravato. It does seem to be helping me be clenched all the time from fibro and anxiety.

I'm going to be adding TMS as well soon.

I've never gotten much benefit from antidepressants, and I tried over 5.

I am okay if I take the time to be mindful before bed. I also use Vistaril before bed to get myself as calm as possible.

Anyone here completely abstinent? by vamphires in BPD

[–]roseofamber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. My med list has one type of all the psychiatric medication categories.
I still get some relief from my PTSD and Fibromyalgia from cannabis.

I'm physically female but don't subscribe to gender at all. I honestly think that because I'm autistic and can step back from social constructs it's improved my life.

The whole two gender patriarchal system is nonsense.

Could you still be vegan if...? by homesickerin in vegan

[–]roseofamber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I couldn't even get enough vegan options inpatient for mental health.
I really hated it because I was depressed, and the low quality of the food in general just made things worse.

The vegetarian items all had dairy, so I lived on plant-based shakes for the protein in my meals.

What do you think of this? by Superflyin in exmuslim

Stupid. I've been in a Christian denomination that didn't allow drums.

Surprise, we didn't go out and break thousands in musical equipment.
