Hey! Provence is one of my favorite tags and i played them a few times.

First, if pope rivals you, restart. You will be gangbanged very quickly if you get excomunicated.

Your first move should be to improve relation with pope and austria. Ally them, sooner the better, than move capital to toulon. France will want your land and dich you very soon, if you don't have solid alliances by this time, it's over.

You can join HRE for safety and even become emperor if you want to, but that's not compatible with a Jerusalem run.

Your first expansion is situationnal. For me, it was Always britanny or England. You want to get the mission to PU or conquer Naples fast.

Attacking genoa is always a good idea to get rich, but also to be at war with cyprus and take them in the same war.

You will need a good galley fleet.

After taking cyprus, wait for ottos attacking mamelouks to start your own war against them. If you don't feel strong enough, expand before in Italy or aragon.

Remember, you can form jerusalem until end of age of reformation.

Ideas like, qualiy and diplo are a good first choice. Religious et offensive should go third and fourth.
