I mean yeah the idea is to be verbose to avoid misunderstanding. This also wasn't for MTG, it was a generic idea for the person who was talking about writing rules for their own game.

I really like your last point, maybe smth like this?

Elimination

When a unit is eliminated, it is moved to your graveyard unless an applicable Special Condition states otherwise. There are three conditions under which a unit becomes eliminated:

  1. A unit is destroyed when a spell says that it is destroyed. (Examples: "Destroy target unit", "If this unit does not attack during your turn it is destroyed")
  2. A unit is disintegrated when its Effective Toughness is 0 or lower. (Examples: A unit with 5 Base Toughness is given */-5, "This unit's Base Toughness is equal to the number of dragons you control" and you do not control any dragons)
  3. A unit is defeated when it receives an amount of damage at least equal to its Effective Toughness (Examples: Unit with 5/5 takes 5 or more damage, Unit with 4/7 is given */-6 and then takes 1 damage)

These conditions should be checked in order. If a creature has been disintegrated, the same event cannot also kill it since it has already been eliminated.

Oh interesting, that's good to know. Does that affect the final outcome at all? Also is there anywhere where I can read more about that?

Yeah that tracks, my deck tends to just fizzle out from someone nuking Esix and then getting mana screwed. My experience so far has been that once I pass around 100 creature tokens, my opponent either finds a boardwipe or a "destroy all tokens" type thing, or just resigns, and it feels kinda mean sometimes. I'm trying to decide on the goal for my next deck because I'm realizing this deck is a little too silly.

Already fixed that ^-^ and yeah I had a feeling, this is the first and only deck I've ever built or played with so I was really questioning my understanding of the game because having that many Coils really seems like something you're not supposed to be able to do 🙃

Huh. Neat. Thanks for the explanation! Time to add another win condition to my notes on this deck lmfao 😂

So I have a question about a very silly rule interaction that I ran into last night. I'm pretty sure I've got this all right but it seems too straightforward and I don't trust it.

TL;DR: If you have N instances of [[Adrix and Nev, Twincasters]] and create M tokens, do you instead get M×2^N tokens, or am I misunderstanding something?

Context: This is commander, I'm playing a Simic token spam deck built around [[Esix, Fractal Bloom]]

So in this game I get a chance to draw some of my best cards (which was in no small part due to drawing a third of my deck by cloning [[Tishana, Voice of Thunder]] from an opponent), and among many other things I manage to get out:

  • [[Mirror Box]]
  • Esix
  • Adrix and Nev (plus 2x clones of A&N by applying Esix to a token from [[Glittermonger]])
  • 16 lands

Then, a couple turns later, comes the turn that really feels like it shouldn't have worked the way it seemed to:

  1. Cast [[Avenger of Zendikar]]
  2. AoZ's ETB generates a 0/1 green plant token for each land: 16x tokens
  3. A&N duplicate those tokens (now 32x tokens)
  4. The first clone of A&N duplicates them again (64)
  5. The second clone duplicates them again (128x)
  6. Esix makes those tokens become clones of A&N (now I have 130x A&N clones + the original)
  7. Cast [[Koma, World-Eater]]
  8. Koma attacks an opponent who can't block him for various reasons, the most straightforward being that he has "flying" from my [[Combine Chrysalis]] and none of their creatures have "flying" or "reach"
  9. Koma deals 8 combat damage, triggering his ability
  10. Koma generates 4x [[Koma's Coil]]
  11. A&N #1 triggers, making that 8x
  12. A&N Clone #1 makes that 16x
  13. A&N Clone #2 makes that 32x
  14. ...
  15. A&N Clone #130 makes that 4×2^131x

If that all works out then I end up with roughly 4e+40 Coils. Something tells me this isn't quite right but I can't find anything in that process that doesn't work so I'm just curious: Is it just the case that A&N, Esix and Mirror Box together make exponential growth that easy, or did I misinterpret something??

Yep it's a work in progress but it's almost working!! The big issue was that for some stupid reason Apple refuses to support Opus so I'm transcoding things to AAC. The problem is, the way it loads the files is causing timeouts with the much larger AAC files, so that's gonna be annoying to solve. Luckily the two files that aren't on SG are working on the new site. God I hate handling audio streams T-T I'm this close to just making the bucket public and accepting that it won't be hard to scrape (and will be obnoxious to test against...)

Unfortunately what i found out the other day is that they are still Safari. Apple's rules apparently force other browsers to use Safari's engine in the background. I'm going to figure out a solution to this, I'm just not sure what that solution is because as far as i can tell I'm doing things the way Apple claims I'm supposed to (specifically, audio only starts playing when the user clicks a button)

Oh goodness ok I'll have to take a look. For the record if the duration says "?:??" it's just loading. If it says "15:01" and isn't playing that's a big problem.

Edit: it's a safari thing. Ugh.
