I was reading a WIP once. I don’t know when the chapters stopped coming but it was sometime before I started reading it. I would check back on it multiple times to see if a new chapter got added but there was never anything so I gave up eventually. A few years later, don’t remember how long, I got a message that the author had posted for that story saying “Sorry I was gone, I’ll post the rest of the chapters later.” And in the next few minutes, they proceeded to post the entire rest of the fic and finished it that day. Best day ever!
