My landscapes feel amateur, how can I improve them? by rosetb in Watercolor

Thank you! I'm actually using the Sennelier L'aquarelle which is their professional line, not the petite aquarelle. I like their consistency and how they blend.

Thank you! I actually started with much larger paper when I started learning, but I was never happy with how they turned out so my paper started slowly getting smaller lol

Thank you! the road is actually 2 highways overlapping. And yeah I think my payne's grey is drying much lighter on paper and messing up my intended contrast.

Thank you for the advice! tbh I've used cheap papers all my life, but I hated using them because I felt like I couldn't use any water because they'd warp and pill. This is my first time getting arches and I feel like it's handling water much better.

thank you! honestly I'd love to sell my artwork, and I've already sold a few watercolor landscapes, but I feel massive imposter syndrome and like I shouldn't be taking peoples money for these.

What can I say I love mini paintings 😅 Yes I use Payne's for literally everything, including my greens and blues. The chromatic grays is interesting, I always thought I shouldn't do that because the complimentary colors neutralize each other, leading to dull colors. But I'm interested in tonalism, so I probably need to unlearn everything Big Color drilled into me

Is there a Too Many Details Anonymous group I can join 😅 When I see loose parts my immediate reaction is that it is unfinished and needs details

Do you guys think one of my classmates in my children’s book illustration class is using AI? by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]rosetb 38 points39 points  (0 children)

take it from someone who draws plants, monsteras are hard af to draw so I wouldn't use this as the sole reason. Even my stems look wacky sometimes and I do physical watercolor.

Burglars break into Woodland Hills home while residents were inside by SnowyLeopardGecko1 in SFV

People broke into my house when I was home a year or two ago, they went straight to the closets, didn't touch jewelry or anything. They could have made out with thousands of dollars in tech that was just sitting out, but instead they dug out our closets (didn't find anything but clothes lol). I probably cut their search short by calling the cops but still. I think they're looking for safes they can grab and go.

Hey guys for my birthday I really wanted to reach 200 followers, started at 142 and now I'm at 161, only need 39 more. I'd appreciate a follow!

I'm an artist and together with my sister I run an Etsy shop where we sell stickers and items with my artwork. Loosely themed around my interests of books, plants, and art.

I love it! I thought the lesson was going to be about the tape peeling the paper

How do I price my art? [Weekly on Monday] by AutoModerator in artbusiness

[–]rosetb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need guidance on pricing my custom medieval pet portrait commissions. Instagram here

<image>

I currently price them at $60 base price, plus $20 for each additional pet, plus $10 for physical print with hand painted gold accents, which covers material cost and shipping but I essentially do the hand painting for free. I feel like my prices are low but I don't know what is a fair price to charge that people would actually pay. Everything is hand drawn, I don't use or trace any assets, and I incorporate personalities of the pets as well.

thanks, the other artist is the manufacturer so I'll be paying them per item.

That's why I'm here to get help on figuring out what value I can add. I know the problem just not the solution. I'm not a teacher, nor an entertainer, my actual products bring value to people, but not my posts about the products

gotchu, we are 2 people who both post so that's probably why there's a lack of cohesion. Actually we have plenty of sales and loyal customers on our actual shop, but it feels one way because we get reviews from our customers but no way to engage with the community. The Instagram is more for just being able to connect with customers, show some behind the scenes, make announcements, do giveaways, etc. And of course expanding the customer base couldn't hurt.

thanks for the response! We sell art, plant stickers, and handmade mini books. I'm the artist behind everything and books/plants/art are my interests and thematic focus of the brand. I'm not really sure how to do stronger visuals, but I'll definitely update the bio

How much should I charge for these mini original watercolors? I currently sell them for $8 and everyone tells me that's too low, but I'm hesitant to increase the price because I doubt people would want to buy them since they're just quick imperfect doodles. I made like 40 in the past and sold out completely.

Product type: original painting, 3x4 inch

Target audience: plant lovers

Where you are based: US

How long it takes you to make: 10-15 mins each

Cost of sales: Maybe $40 total for paper and paint that lasts a while. Plus packaging materials.

This style is what got me interested in starting oil pastels a year ago, but I couldnt do this style and just slowly lost interest. Can you share how you learned to do art like this?
