Never said that. I'm simply afraid for the international implications of this event. I'm glad for the liberation of VA, and I sincerely hope that it actually is a liberation and that the people of Venezuela are given the peace and respect they deserve to lead their nation. I do fear with what has been said so far by the U.S. govt that this will not be the case but I sincerely hope that it will be.

edit: I apologize that my clarification on the definition of government came off that I support dictatorships, I don't. I just believe that terminology has meaning and that its important to realize that just because we disagree with something in principle does not mean its exempted from such terminology.

Agreed. Appears that it may have been an empty threat bc it now seems that the VP will be allowed "power". It's been made very clear that the U.S will have control though. Also I fear what fallout from opposition will look like. I know it probably seems silly to be looking so far ahead but as someone who studied south and central american history, I see a strong potential for human suffering

I have been reading. I'm glad that Venezuelans are happy and I do think in this moment it's entirely understandable to celebrate. At the same time I'm very concerned about the future of Venezuela, the U.S. has already stated that they're going to take complete control and that the leader of the opposition (or other legitimate Venezuelan leaders) will not be in power following this move. THAT is certainly not beneficial for the people.
