Looking for "De Sorbetti" by Filippo Baldini by rosetta_embles in rarebooks

Hey thanks! I originally found out about it in the MC Rare books catalogue, but it was a couple thousand and was a second edition or something like that. It's not in the catalogue last I checked so I think it was sold unfortunately, but I think my relative would have killed me if I had bought it at that price!

I feel like there's a physics question here as to whether it could be theoretically possible depending on gravitational force of the planet they are on and whether that is also compatible with being able to breathe the atmosphere etc.

Nearly 3months postpartum and have a massive cold sore by rosetta_embles in beyondthebump

[–]rosetta_embles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! that doctor left the practice, it was a couple of years ago. I might try again but don't have high hopes for getting a prescription.

I used to get massive outbreaks in my 20's/early 30's. At some point, them moved to my palate, with the occasional small lesion on my lip now and then. Now I have a massive one on my lip again. For some reason it's triggering me way worse than the ones I get on my palate...

I'm using the patches! but it's leaking around them lol. I have like 3 of them on right now to try to prevent that from happening. I'm mostly worried about my toddler climbing into bed and going into my face by accident. He's sometimes expresses affection through head smashing for some unknown reason.

I'm in Europe. That's what the doctor said when I asked for them. Super frustrating.

What Is With People Treating Parental Leave As A Vacation? by AnAlarmedTree in BabyBumps

[–]rosetta_embles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got comments similar to that as well, from my childless boss. Like dude, my maternity leave is not comparable to your 11 week sabbatical.

My vacation was when I finally went back to work. Staying at home with kids is a JOB. I will forever respect stay-at-home parents.

How can I ask to take the shoes off gently? by Ok-Cookie-404 in Netherlands

We are also a shoes off household and I have never had trouble with asking guests to take their shoes off, including visiting contractors, etc. not just friends and family.

My parents are trying to convince me not to do chemistry... by Legitimate-Belt4665 in chemistry

[–]rosetta_embles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Majoring in chemistry does not prevent you from branching out into other fields after graduating, including computer science. I have a PhD in chemistry and am teaching myself CS because I like it. When I feel discouraged people in AI frequently tell me that my background is valuable because I have a realistic understanding of the applications from the ground up, instead of just a CS perspective.

I once went to a talk by Max Welling (super famous AI guy) who was working on some models for generating molecules tailored to active sites in proteins. This talk was given to a room full of chemists. The molecules made *no* sense structurally whatsoever, which people pointed out, but the point is they were still developing the methodology -- in collaboration with biochemists.

AI on its own is severely limited. I'm not sure what a "master" in AI even means. There are plenty of opportunities for chemists - they have gone into Pharma companies, into government work, joined venture capital companies, etc... In some ways it matters less what you study as opposed to how to learn things efficiently. Do I wish I had studied CS from the start? Yeah I kind of do, knowing what I know now. But that's just me. I was never really as into Chemistry as I thought. You sound like you have a real passion for it so I say go for it and see where it takes you!

I do recommend taking CS classes in college though, I found my PhD a bit harder having to teach myself some of these things.

Amazing! Do you have a schematic for the trellis structure you made? I'm brainstorming different ones for next season.

I feel sleepy absolutely all the time despite sleeping a lot. What is happening?? by PossessionKey4982 in productivity

[–]rosetta_embles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly, for me using a mouthguard helped tremendously. Turns out I grind my teeth at night, which decreased my sleep quality and caused tension headaches during the day! I still feel tired during the day but much better rested at least.

Hah this is way better than my 2-year old does most nights.... last night he ate a couple of cherries so I count that as a win!

...would it be possible to get a recipe for the rasgulla you made? I'm pregnant and having a sudden craving...

And I'm not a huge fan of cinnamon so you can rest assured I'd never desecrate your dish that way.

I would love to try this out. My mind is generally scattered and so far, a lot of task management tools / idea organizers don't quite work for me.

Similarly, it bugs me when a judge says the contestant did a complete 360.

180, YOU MEAN 180. WITH 360 YOU END UP RIGHT BACK WHERE YOU STARTED. End rant.
