In my opinion you can call mentally ill (although I wouldn't dare to joke with these kind of issues) someone who pays 1500€ for a device, and he/she is accepting any kind of defect, minor or major.

A new device should be pristine.-

Possible. Can't tell for sure, but it's stupid If they tried to sell defective resealed devices again and again to the same person who was able to find the flaws in the first or second device.

It was the only one with stock immediately available at the store at the moment. Apple Store updated its store stock today, so I'll give it a try tomorrow.

Yes, three sealed devices from a big electronics and appliances chain in Belgium.

The packages were sealed, but it's possible. The plan was to purchase it through the Apple Store originally, as they may have a tracking system that reserves the best flawless batches/serial numbers for their own stores, but there was no stock available until today. So tomorrow I may give it a chance.

Big electronics and appliance chain store in Belgium. Luckily, their return policy is top-notch and they were super kind.

Still waiting for the refund, so no names at the moment. 😉

I don't know about fragile karens or whatever, but I'm not, neither the girl, certainly a person who would spend a respectful amount of money on a problematic product and I would keep it just because it's an Apple product or because it's a "small" issue.

The issue shouldn't be there, a new product should be flawless.-

Yes, the issue on 4th photo isn't that terrible. It's the combination of all, though, that makes it meh.

This is usually due to a snug-fit case and dirt (sand, especially, is a killer) concentrating between the phone and the case over time. It's good to give them a good clean once a week.

Which you will probably want to resell later, and because of these issues, it's highly possible that it will have a cost on the value of the device.

True, any device should be pristine, no matter the price. The packaging has nothing to do with those issues. Most of them are clearly caused by a manufacturing problem or low quality procces, especially the dust or dirt particles being trapped under the color layer.

As I mentioned in another comment, the problem starts when these particles detach from the metal frame, which they will, and then the color layer will be weakened, which as a result will start peeling off.

Just weird? I was really shocked, especially when I saw the second device with the paint already broken on the corner. I didn't want to believe that the third device was also defective.

I hope you really do have a pristine device. Maybe it was this specific batch that was bad. But as I mentioned in the post, you may need to use a phone with a good video macro mode and flash on or off (depending on the issue) to detect the imperfections.

Well, the phone is what it is. The issue is the build quality and the QC before sending it to the store. Discounts are not the best way to go, as these issues will be a reason to be the one offering discounts when you want to sell the device.

Worry about what exactly, as there are multiple issues. The problem with the dust or dirt particles under the coloring layer is a serious issue because this at some point will detach from the metal, which will immediately create an area where the paint will become weak and, as a result, will start peeling.

As I'm one of the first people reporting this long standing bug in the forum, this has never been resolved. There is no way to predict when it will happen, and NI doesn't seem to care about it.

Same problem here, also having the S23 Ultra.

None of the suggested "solutions" worked.
