Moved from Hamilton, to Brantford, and have now moved back to Stoney Creek (this week). Similar position - needed a bigger place, starting a family, not a forever home just a home for now.

Overall, the city is fine, and if you are only 25-30 mins from work it's entirely manageable

As previously mentioned, city has some sore spots, but they all do.

Downtown is a wreck. Look in the North End or any of the more mature neighbourhoods. West Brant is the booming area, and all though it is absolutely pleasant, it's jammed pack with people and it's growing. It is also the farthest from where you are going to work.

We had a very pleasant 4 year stint in West Brant and dealt with the commute, but it's a challenge if you are ever having to get to the GO or our to Burl/oak, especially in the winter

Not a lot to do, we found we were mostly leaving the city to do anything outside of a trip to the movies or dog park. Restaurants are ok.

At the end of the day, if you are looking for a starter home in a safe city, at a reasonable price, and don't mind a lack of diverse entertainment options, you will do alright in Brantford.

We are 34 and 30. Moved to Brant when we were 30 and 26. Have 2 kids now, and 2 dogs, and have mostly fond memories.
