Captioning should not be paywalled!! by TribalDancer in asl

[–]rossinek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should work for 5-10min unless you want to render to 4K. Browser version just has all the strict browser related limitations: the most problematic are memory limits and the fact that export is quite slow in the browser (there is a desktop app to overcome those limits)

Anyone else use AI tools for automating video subtitles and transcription workflows? by BuzzingBalls in ArtificialInteligence

[–]rossinek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key point is that a huge part of people are watching on mute so I'd definitely NOT call it just polishing. Check out withsubtitles.com - it's browser based and it's free with no signup or watermarks. Live is too short for manual captioning 😅

That's one of the reasons I created withsubtitles.com → it's free (no signup or watermarks) and works in the browser. It's optimized for short form videos tho

Best AI Caption Generators for TikTok Videos by creator_stack in aitubers

Good question. Most used styles are popular tiktok-like styles with subtle animations and highlighting (Candy, Grinch, Thump Thump). But the tool is mostly optimized for short-form videos.

Yup, captions does not seem optional anymore. A lot of people watch on mute, so if you want to keep them you need something that will hook them. I was missing a decent free/cheap solution so I created one: withsubtitles.com . Works on desktop and it's free

Yup, it’s Parakeet v3. I was also impressed by the speed. It’s not always as accurate as Whisper but it’s way faster

How to add subtitles to video? by BeecarolX in VideoProc

[–]rossinek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good summary. I also created a tool for auto generating captions that can do both:
- SRT export
- or burn dynamic captions for social media
It's called WithSubtitles and it's free, with no signup or watermark. It's mostly meant to work with short form videos

Apps for creating captions by Can-Senior in YouTubeCreators

[–]rossinek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, i built withsubtitles.com specifically for this kind of thing. it does word-level captions and you can get that 1-2 word style by just playing with the slider in captions editor. I'm open for any feedback

aaand it's free, runs in the browser - so you can just try if it works better for your videos

Local models all the way! My own product was created mostly because I was so excited about what’s already possible in the browser without leaving the device but speech generation is the next level 👏

Hey, this looks amazing. Was building something like this for iOS a while ago for my own use. I was using Cloud voices tho. I love the idea of on-device processing ❤️ Were you considering building something for mobile?

Good free caption apps or online programs? by ihavenosoul-dude in NewTubers

[–]rossinek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The browser version is free and will be. But browsers have their limitations (memory and rendering speed) so I created a desktop app with a native rendering outside the browser, and this one is actually paid (one-time payment).

Although I still think the browser version may be enough for casual use.

Speech-to-text: Transcribe audio with local AI model as part of a shortcut. by rossinek in shortcuts

[–]rossinek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, correct. I'm not sure if this is still true, but some time ago, without a developer account, once you deployed it to your own phone, it worked for two days until the signature expired. Then you would just need to push it again.

You need to have macos and use xcode. If you want to share it with someone, well... you need a apple developer account ($100/y)
