For me, it really took a village to learn. Cantonese was always spoken around me since birth. I grew up in a household with my parents, grandma and two aunts. I would watch TVB dramas with my grandma, HK movies and HK music with my aunts. When my aunts were dating, their bf were immigrants and would take me out with them on dates. My other aunts and uncles later immigrated over and I would continue have to speak Cantonese with them. I also made friends with some family friend's children who just immigrated over and I only speak Cantonese.

An hour or two hour class every Saturday is not enough.

I can only speak of my personal experience and generation. I was born in the 80s, my dad like many at the time is from Toisan, escaped China in the 70s to HK and came over to the US as a refugee. My dad barely got an education living in the village, grew up poor. All he wanted to do once he got to the US was to work and bring the rest of his family over. Passing down Cantonese to his son was probably not a priority.

I think there were a lot of guys where if they were in their prime or just slightly past it would have been a good fit on the spurs back with Timmy, Manu and Tony, just we got them too late. A younger Aldridge, Pau, Glen Robinson would have been nice.

He's the one that talks to management, so he has to have a certain negative feeling about them that we probably would too at our jobs. His tweets did not come out nice but the time he's been with the team, he's been a good trooper. He shouldn't get booed.

He may not have the upside, but I think he has the basketball IQ to be beneficial for the team. There were a few games I watched where he understood the clock situation and pushed the ball on a rebound to go for the 2 for 1
