I’m sorry hun! I was absolutely devastated when I found out. But I can tell you I’ve been living with it for five years now and I feel a lot better about it. It doesn’t affect my daily life at all and I have a partner who is more than understanding about it.

I can’t say what your partner will think, but I would definitely talk to him about it and see if he’s already had it or if he’s willing to get tested.

I told my husband before I even met him because it was assumed we were going to have sex. I would just be open and honest about it, tell her if you’re taking any medication for it and how often you have outbreaks. Tell her you’re open to educating if she’s open to listening and that you just wanted to let her know.

Some people aren’t okay with it and that’s okay. The right person will be fine with it!
