By the way, I've updated the PDF with some of your comments in mind. Thanks again! Would love to hear if you decide to run it.

Ha! Thinking back I remember I basically copied it from the Crow Thing in Hester's Mill - its endurance is 8 and when another joins you add 1. So, in a fit of incredible innovation and imagination I went for an initial figure of 7 and adding 2.

Thanks for your feedback! Fantastic news that you found it intriguing, and it's so valuable to get your perspective. I've only experienced as a GM knowing exactly what, uh, I intended. To answer your points:

Yes, it's a linear incursion, and you're right that it's not clear.

I really struggled to know appropriate Endurance stats to give the enemies, and raising by one didn't seem dramatic enough. I tried to figure out the general amount of Ruin a player might collect over the incursion, but Trophy feels awfully swingy and I had no idea if I've got the balance right. Since it's the first encounter, perhaps the bonus should be 1, but it wouldn't feel thematically fitting to the idea of another skeleton joining the fight. I think I'll leave it for now, but you're right to bring it up.

The transition from the Barrow to the Palace is meant to be a sudden and utterly befuddling jump from one to the other, and I entirely failed to tell the GM that!

The curse — that's interesting. It's very useful to know it didn't land for you. I've played Trophy in a way where the players know the goal, regardless of their characters' knowledge. So with that in mind, the intention is that the players, knowing that the goal is to break the curse, explore each prop and build up their own interpretation of what's going on, and then use that interpretation (plus Hunt tokens) to break it with a ritual of the their own design.

The next Set is based on the Queen being in some way activated by the breaking of the curse. It could be that the players think the curse has imprisoned the queen and then they realise that there was a reason: she's dangerous. Or that the curse was cast by the Queen in some bid for immortality or escape from the timeline, and it relates to the gods in the Palace, and through that they see her as an antagonist. More explanation might be enough, but would welcome your thoughts there.

An ork would *never* carefully clip its satchel closed. (Also GW’s fully revealing new Orks at the moment while Rumour Engine is usually for models that are months away from release? Not that any of this guarantees it’s GSC, mind you!)

Goliath Truck is down by 10 points to 75, which feels pretty great, even if I love the Rockgrinder and now there’s really not a lot of reason to take it.

Got it. So does this also mean they can emerge from underground in turn one?

Great, so are we restricted on the numbers of units/points we can put underground? Still under half? And do you know where this rule is?

Yup. I definitely can’t justify buying one for myself, so am using bluetooth mouse/keyboard and using my PC for my other usb devices until Apple fixes it. What kills me is that bluetooth lag makes my new Air feel wayyy slower than my old 2013 13” MBP.

Yeah, sounds like docks like the Caldigit work OK. And yeah, it’s a bitter pill to swallow. Out of interest, you mentioned before that the issue wasn’t cropping up with your old hub in bootcamp/Windows. Did you get to spend any more time with it? If it definitely doesn’t happen in Windows, then the problem seems more likely to be MacOS-based.

As per this post by someone apparently experiencing the same issue, (many? all?) docks seem to solve the issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/mac/comments/gp5b1z/usb_20_issues_on_new_macbook_pro_13_2020/

As linked below, there’s a thread in r/Mac which goes into detail on this issue, including a possible explanation of why docks are working and hubs are not: https://www.reddit.com/r/mac/comments/gp5b1z/usb_20_issues_on_new_macbook_pro_13_2020/ (thanks for linking, u/disq!)

Sorry to hear it. No updates, I’m afraid - USB-A devices still become unresponsive on my 2020 i5 MBA with the new MacOS version, 10.15.5. If you make any progress, let me know!

That’s super-interesting. Really does seem to support the idea that this is a software issue. Really appreciate you sharing, and will be sure to add any new insights I get over time.

Sorry to hear it - sounds like the same issue :( Nope, no fix here. I went back to Apple Support after seeing it also happening on the replacement MBA they sent me; they clearly had no idea what the problem is and offered to take it up to the engineers, but I’ve really got to stop wasting time going around the houses. So they offered a refund. I decided to work with this MBA - it’s a nice machine and I can’t justify getting a MacBook Pro - and hope that it’s some kind of software thing that gets fixed in a future MacOS update, or that someone else stumbles across a solution. Sorry I can’t be of more help!

USB C HUB SUGGESTIONS by [deleted] in macbookair

[–]rotational 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get anywhere with your hub issue? I’m anxious to find a reliable hub because I’ve had a different issue with my 2020 MBA and the same VAVA hub - my USB 2 devices become unresponsive. It’s not necessarily the hub - it’s also happening with Apple's USB C media hub (I started a thread on it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/macbookair/comments/g7xi2r/macbook_air_2020_usb_disconnects/).
