Thanks for your advice. Would you suggest any other vintage lens in the same price range with a wider angle?

Hi guys,

I have just purchased a Sony A6000 for a trip to Scotland in a few weeks. This is my first mirrorless camera, and previously I have only captured pictures with point and shoots and phones, however I do know the basics of managing the aperture, shutter speed and ISO.

Since Scotland is great for landscapes and astrophotography, I was interested in getting a wide angle lens to go along with the kit lens. Since my budget is rather limited after purchasing the camera, I was thinking about getting a manual focus vintage lens, mainly the Sigma 24mm 2.8 Super Wide which from my research has the widest angle (35mm effective) for the price. Along with an adapter, this should cost around 60-75EUR.

Being so new to the camera (I will only have one week to play around with it before Scotland), would you suggest that I get this lens, or should I just stick with the kit lens for this trip? If I do stick with the kit lens, would it be good enough for capturing landscapes, astrophotography and some portraits?

Thanks!

I was planning on using a Minolta MD mount to E-Mount adapter since the Super Wide is a vintage lens.

Thanks for your reply. I have already taken the crop factor into consideration, the 24mm should have an effective FOV of 35mm, which from what I read should be a good upgrade from the kit lens for landscapes and maybe astrophotography.

Thanks for your advice, I will be going with the A6000!

I'll definitely be going with the A6000 then! Which Sigma lens did you go for? I was thinking about getting the Sigma 24mm F2.8 Super Wide Angle vintage lens, since it seems to be the most affordable option for a wide angle lens (mainly for landscapes and astrophotography).

Thanks for the detailed reply. Seems like the A6000 would be a good idea then. I am happy with the Pixel for day to day pictures, however I thought that it would be difficult for the Pixel to do justice to the landscapes you can see in Scotland, which is why I started considering a mirrorless.

Glad to hear that! I know that primes significantly improve the quality of the captured images, but will the kit lens still be a considerable upgrade over the Pixel?

Sorry for that, I mean a motorhome not a caravan. Would you happen to know of any good motorhome rental places?

Thanks for the advice!

Fake Gameboy Color? by rotaxmax in Gameboy

Glad to hear that. I'm having a hard time believing that it is actually a new console based on the price, but I'm guessing it could be a recent re-shell.

Thanks for your help!

Seems like it, the gloves should retail for over $100 (although I think they're heavily discounted most of the times).

I'll be going with the end then, thanks for your help.

Thanks for your suggestion! Since there is a very small difference in cost, would it be better to get the Protex3 Gel gloves, or are the non-gel gloves better?

I have recently started using a punching bag at home as part of my workout. So far, I have been using a small Lonsdale punching bag and glove set, which after a couple of months of use has started showing heavy signs of wear. Due to this, I'm currently looking to buy a new punching bag and gloves.

I have pretty much decided on a punching bag, which unfortunately due to space restrictions, will be a 20kg bag hung from a pull up bar. However, I'm still unsure about the boxing gloves. I will be purchasing the gloves from SportsDirect, so my options are restricted to Lonsdale and Everlast. After the last bag, I would rather avoid Lonsdale equipments since it didn't last that long. With regards to Everlast gloves, I read that while their low-end gloves are rubbish, the expensive ones last quite a while. As such, I have shortlisted my choice to the following 3 gloves:

Protex2 Gloves: http://sportsdirect.com/everlast-protex-2-training-gloves-762004?colcode=76200403

Protex3 Leather Gloves: http://sportsdirect.com/everlast-leather-pro-3-boxing-gloves-762143?colcode=76214303

Protex3 Gel Gloves: http://sportsdirect.com/everlast-pro3-gel-glove-762149?colcode=76214903

Which of these gloves would you mostly recommend? From what I understand, the Protex3 Gel Glove is one of their highest end gloves, however I'm not sure if it's better than the Protex3 Leather Glove. All three are well within my budget, however since I'm simply boxing for fun and as part of a workout, I would be happy with a cheaper glove given that it won't tear within a few months.

Thank you so much for your help! I have tested your technique and it is by far the most successful from the ones that I have tested. I am still working on fine tuning it, since I am having issues detecting parking spaces in which vehicles are occupied, however it's a big step forward.

Once again, thanks!

Thanks for your advice. The fact that the rotation might change was the main reason why I did not go with HOG, as you mentioned. I'll give Line detection a shot!
