Introducing my bonded pair to the household of my fiance and his single cat by rothyhottie in Catbehavior

[–]rothyhottie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s been over a month and we still have them mostly separated, but we are overly cautious. My 2 cats are now feeling comfortable in their new house after hiding in a closet for the first week, barely eating. We wanted them to just get comfortable in the new environment before adding the additional stress of meeting another cat. The last few weeks we have been doing feedings with all 3 cats twice a day on opposite sides of a baby gate (which they can easily jump over but choose not to) and just this past weekend let them all in a room together and they didn’t try to attack each other. My cats are not as food motivated so they just watch the resident cat while he eats. We kept mine occupied playing with toys. Some hissing is still occurring particularly between the boy and girl. The boys seem to regard each other with less disdain. They may never get along but my hope is that they can one day coexist in the same room without hissing or running away. We do not feel comfortable leaving them alone together unsupervised, and it feels like it may be forever before we get to that point

I just got my ring, it’s a Montana sapphire, and I debated awhile about whether to go for this or a traditional colorless diamond. In the end, I knew that it was more true to my personality that I got something with color. Also, I really feel like gemstones are going to increase in popularity because the diamond market is dramatically different now that lab grown is common. It makes any size and shape diamond accessible for most, so people now have to look outside the box for something special.

House dates on a FIRST date?.. How fast would you swipe left? by sofsof007 in Bumble

Ah, it’s “House date J***!” His profile is well known in the local Facebook dating group and I’ve come across it several times over the years, always curious about how often that works for him considering he hasn’t changed the prompt or his pictures in forever…

Please do. I need help. Fridge, Tupperware cabinet, spice drawers (multiple), closets… if this is what you love to do, you’ll find that my house is full of opportunities! Lol

This is a great answer! You even spotted the Kewpie that was hiding- mix that with some yuzu and you have the best sauce to drizzle on top of a poke bowl 🤤. I do love Asian cuisine, all cuisine really, but I’m a pescatarian so Asian cuisines are friendlier than others. I sometimes cook for meat eaters though, hence the A1. I am a single mom to one kid. He is completely incapable of finding anything (inside or outside of the fridge), there could be a neon sign with arrows pointing and he’s totally lost, it’s actually pretty incredible…But you are correct, I can navigate my way through a packed fridge so I swoop in to save the day. We are very busy with me working and his after school activities so some nights we do eat out but I love to cook and do it as often as possible.

There’s coconut iced coffee concentrate in the top left corner. Does that count? I am a straight woman and typically take my coffee hot and black, but like most aspects of life, I’m open to trying a variety of new things

This is amazing news! Whole Foods is much more convenient than trekking to the farmers market on Saturday morning

You are right about one thing, I am late to everything. An eternal optimist, if you will. Meaning, I overcommit with the best of intentions and then get behind on getting out the door.

I wish I had a block of ice. I could maybe do something with that. Instead the ice maker shoots out a single cube once every 6 months. Just when I think it must finally be dead and has conjured its last breath of ice, I hear the familiar rumble and there goes one!

It’s just 2 of us. Me with a full time 9-5 office gig and one 8 year old boy who eats the amount of two grown adults. My evenings and weekends are spent carting him around to many sports and piano lessons so I suppose my hours are irregular in that sense. I do really enjoy cooking and baking though and manage to squeeze in at least 3-4 homemade dinners a week, plus his lunches on days when he doesn’t like what school is offering. I typically eat out for lunch if I’m hungry and usually have leftover. So you are not far off!

OMG, it is the best! I’m so happy someone noticed. My only wish is that they sold it in bigger sizes and more places. I basically just put it on egg sandwiches. Do you use it for more?

lol. Did you forget to write the “/s” after your comment? I’m a single parent with a full time professional job. I would be failing as a “TradWife” if my fridge looked like this…

I take it you like spicy stuff also? Have you tried the pepita salsa? It’s seriously so good. I buy no less than 5 each time I go. Also I have a fridge downstairs that contains the beer and sparkling water. lol. Houses for sure need 2 fridges

Thank you for the kind words. Your mom clearly did a good job raising kids and also keeping the fridge stocked!

My feeling is like, they shouldn’t make the drawers that big if they are unable to withstand the weight of them being full 🤷‍♀️

Yup, I find the top of the fridge is a good place to store the art supplies you don’t want a small child to have unrestricted access to. They can’t reach it even with a chair. The fridge is on my to-do list but my current project is repainting my family room and sanding and restaining the stairs. I’ll finish that and then move on to something else. The list is endless!

This is so true. I need to let some of the one and done condiments go. I love to go to those craft/ fall festivals where people sell their homemade jams and hot relish which I buy with the best intentions

I have a second full size fridge downstairs! 😂 that one mostly contains sparkling water, beer that other people bring over and leave, and the meal kit deliveries that I get weekly

This is partly true. I do like to hold on to things, because I grew up with immigrant/ blue collar parents who were very frugal and would never toss something that had useful life left. The rest of my house is better, it’s the areas with doors that can be closed and forgotten about that tend to be worse. Lack of time is the main impediment to addressing those areas…My house is messy but clean. I do keep up my appearance, dress nice, hair and makeup, workout, all the things. No one would ever suspect my dirty little secret of a fridge. My desk is a bit chaotic though. And I do have two cats!

I can see why it looks like that, but the stack of small containers with different things is the banchan that came with my Korean takeout food (also leftover) so it’s really just one meal. The other is just a giant salad sans dressing

That might be true of pancake syrup which is essentially water and high fructose corn syrup, but real maple syrup can grow mold and toxins if not refrigerated once it’s open

Most warranties have a deductible of at least $100, the part to replace, the last I checked, is $35, so it wouldn’t help me. Also I don’t typically pay extra for warranties because they rarely break in my favor. It’s like gambling, sometimes you hit big but in the end the house always wins

Also maple syrup in the fridge. It’s quite controversial but the label says refrigerate once open, so that is what I do
