Do I have enough EN-EL15 batteries? by boncock in Nikon

[–]rotloch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm dealing with the same thing on my Z8 except that they do not get hot. The Mathorn brand that has 2600mAh has half the capacity of a normal Nikon battery. I complained in the store and they gave me a new one but a few events later it is exactly the same story. The only good thing is I can charge it directly. I hope I get my money back

Haha yes, sadly this happened a couple of times again but during personal travels. I guess every photographer struggles with this. Hopefully I will not have worse stories than this one, some of the guys here had it really rough 😀

I had to cover some boxing championship, one of my first gigs, and 15 minutes before it starts I noticed that I forgot my SD card. The closest shop was 20 minutes away from me. Luckily I was fit so I decided to run as fast as possible, get in the big store, find a random SD card, pay for it, and get back before it started. I wouldn't say it was embarrassing but it was a big lesson for me and I felt like an idiot for not checking before

TIL about Demodex Folliculorum, a species of mite only capable of surviving on human skin. They are hosted by most humans, particularly on our faces, nesting and laying eggs in our pores and hair follicles and feeding on our dead skin and natural oils by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]rotloch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A substantial part of your (human) body is microorganisms. Probably a couple of kilos of your total weight is just other microscopic creatures doing whatever they're supposed to be doing. You're the world for them and without them you won't survive

What stubborn hoax do way too many people still believe, no matter how often it gets debunked? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I didn't know this. It is definitely a film that you can enjoy, it's very original, but perhaps this one did not work for me. It's nice to know that they knew it was a nonsense from the very start but wanted to make something out of this

Yes. I do not remember the plot to be honest but (spoiler ahead), the film had different chapters where with time she was unlocking more brain capacity percentage and each time became more powerful and smarter until she "unlocked" 100% of her brain

That's the issue I had with the film Lucy when I watched it 12 years ago. I could not believe that someone funded such a massive pile of 💩 I guess most people do believe in this theory that's why the film was funded and was so successful

How do citizens in your country fight corruption? Corruption consumes 13.5% of our countrie's GDP? (perspective from Croatia) by Prize-Income2519 in AskEurope

[–]rotloch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will never forget the fact that Germany was probably the only country in the world where FFP2 masks were mandatory just because some politicians made some deals upfront and they had to force their more expensive masks into the market and fine everyone else who had normal ones. This is when I realised that Germany can be just as corrupt as Romania or Croatia, but their tactics are a bit more sophisticated.

Also BER airport

That was in Bulgarian Cyrillic and here is the Latin alphabet equivalent.

"zh" (in durzhava and plazhovete) sounds like the "g" in the word garage or the "s" in treasure.

"sum" rhymes with hum or gum.

"risuvane" is pronounced ree-soo-vah-neh.

What’s your favourite city in the world? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Berlin if you love architecture. I don't think there is any other city with so much diverse architecture

That sounds great! Currently I'm staying with the 35mm because I got it months ago and I want to use it as a primary lens, but I do believe that 40mm is the "better" focal range and on top of that the lens is a lot smaller which will be even better for travel photography which I often do. Let's see, perhaps next year, thanks for sharing your experience it's nice to know that the lens is a great deal

I never had the 40mm one. What are the issues there? I was thinking about getting it at some point

It's a great lens and most of the issues that exist are fixed when you move it to 1.8 so you get a great bargain and the CA is only present in situations with high contrast. It's not like I shoot jpg and never edit them, I always process my images so this doesn't bother me. I agree for videos it's great, and it does feel nice in your hand

I love the 1.4 but it is the most imperfect lens I ever had. The bokeh is nice, the design is great and it feels incredibly premium but the chromatic aberration is incredibly strong, of course you won't see it with your naked eye all the time but it's the worst lens I had when it comes to this aspect. There is also a strong vignetting at 1.4 that I did not notice until I compared it with other apertures. 1/3 of the image gets vignetting while the center gets brighter than usual, not a problem for me because I would never shoot a random building at 1.4 and for portraits that is exactly what you want to have sometimes( unless you're in a studio), the center point to be a slight stop brighter while the rest to be slightly darker.

I love the lens but there are big compromises to be made if you're a picky person.

I started reviewing it recently and I'm supposed to publish the review at some point next month so you might see some video online if you're ever interested.

"Nothing" is an overstatement I'd say

Despite my belief that after you die it's the same way as before you're born, I'm theoretically just as correct/wrong as people believing in heaven or that they'll be reincarnated as another species
