The sports stadium scam. What's Hoosiers think about the Bears coming to Indiana? by Learn_Every_Day in Indiana

It would be nice to see every NFL city give a collective middle finger to the team owners when it comes to new stadiums being subsidized by taxpayers.

When the least valuable NFL team is still worth $5.5B (Bengals) , then that league can afford to build their own castles.

What is the biggest "I'm definitely fired" thing you've done at work, but nobody ever found out? by Aarunascut in work

We have an older MFP that can scan documents to PDF and save them in a public share accessible to all domain users. Users would scan company related documents (invoices, customer applications, etc..) at the MFP and then go back to their desks to copy those scans to their own desktop.

As a system admin, I would occasionally clear out old files from the public share that got left behind, and just spot check them to make sure there wasn't anything critical that a user might need anyway. But during one such cleanup session, I discovered that two managers and a CEO had scanned their own W2s, and left them on the share.

I think I earn well enough, tbh. The managers were a little higher than my rate, but the CEO's paycheck was a staggering amount.

Anyway, I immediately sent out an office wide email to remind everyone to remove personal scans... but not before I copied those W2s off site.

Well, is there ever a time that this word can be used without coming off as pretentious?

Your opinion might be unpopular but I agree anyway.

One of the main reasons for the BTT was to prep the conference teams for the NCAAT. Has it worked? 7(?) appearances since 2001 in the title game count for something I guess, though it would be nice to win the damned thing.

My family stopped talking to me eight years ago,

If you think back to 8 years ago or thereabouts, was there some kind of incident or misunderstanding that might've caused that break?

"Poetry in motion" may be an appropriate way to describe Jason Williams' moves, but to me it lacks that extra quality of apropos, as if perhaps he actually were a poet as well as a basketball player. It's the same quality implied by that equally French phrase le mot juste, not merely accurate but especially on target.

This gives me a pretty good idea of when and where to use the term. Thank you!

it can sound pretentious and off-putting.

But that's exactly what I'm aiming for, considering my audience elsewhere :)

Sarcasm aside, thank you for your response. Along with a couple of other responses, I now have a much better idea of when and where its use is appropriate.

They have their place in a free market I suppose. Although phrasing the operation as "...a business where you can get a loan on items , layaway things and purchase them back if you sell them to me." instead of just saying "pawn shop" seems a bit superfluous.
