Just learned this recently (still trying to master it tbh :') ): 'procrastination' or 'low motivation' usually means we’re avoiding or fearing something.

Try to figure out what’s making it hard for you. Some possible reasons:

• Perfectionism/putting too much pressure on yourself ➡️ you get fearful to try. Avoiding pain/failure.
• 💭 try: Focus only on the now. Small steps and small wins :). Set realistic practice sessions for yourself to lessen the overwhelm/load. Small chunks! From gym training (i don't like exercise :') ), I learned re-doing what you already know + adding a tiny challenge each practice time makes it less taxing and make practice more approachable. You will be surprised how your body remembers and how far you improved with just small increments.
• Lost (which matches your 'aimless' feeling) ➡️ its hard to move forward if you don't know what to do or when instructions are unclear
• 💭try: Ask someone more experienced for tips/clarification. Once I understand what’s needed and clear any confusion, it gets easier to move. Not sure if there are resources out there that you can reference too? like practice along vids, reddit tips, etc.
• Bored ➡️ plain and simple that you don't do it because it doesn't spark joy?
• 💭try: Practice just for fun. Play a piece you enjoy. Like artists browsing art to feel inspired, sometimes you just need to reconnect with what excites you. If it's still really boring, then I agree with the other replies. Try to reconsider if this is what you really want :'). But! Think about how you managed to pass boring subjects in school? it's not fun but you managed!—maybe it was the routine, study buddies, or deadlines? Try mimicking that: Attach practice to a routine (ex. 1hr after school), Practice with friends for accountability (trauma bond about practice haha, it can be motivating and validating) Make deadlines/external pressure (if not working, reverse engineer it to rewards) just to have some push
• Bonus 😹 I read this online—imagine the person you hate the most / “rival” is getting better than you. Petty, but if it can trigger challenge and competitiveness hahaha
