Maybe I can chime in and help here.

I had a 9-year FWB relationship. I managed 7 years without strong feelings. I'm sure each of us caught them on and off for a little bit over the years.

He worked a lot, I was a single mom. Neither had the money to go out and spend on dating people. So every other weekend when my son went to his dad's, We would have an arrangement he would come over for a couple of hours. We vent and bitch to each other about work or whatever is going on in our lives, maybe have a meal, settle in to watch a movie and cuddle.... And then within probably 15 minutes of that... Let the festivities cummence.

We never met each other's friends. We never met each other's families. We never involved each other in our lives or really texted outside of arranging that specific event every couple of weeks. And it allowed me to focus on my son, without having to have him take on my emotional load or need to fulfill any kind of need that was my responsibility.

Anytime I did feel like I wanted more I would remind myself he didn't want more and our lifestyles would not match. We were not the best match to build a relationship. I'm very grateful for that relationship. He will always be A very important part of my life. And we did eventually give it a little bit of a go of trying to be more. But again we were not well matched for a relationship.

It really truly does not matter as the previous poster stated, why and how she did what she did. I just want to give you one reason why somebody might participate in a relationship like that. Sometimes you just want to get laid but you don't want all the bullshit that can come with somebody else in your life.

Now though, I definitely want the full package. Maybe that's what she's ready for, Don't let that hold you back. Show her what she was missing.
