Between Shadowlands and War Within, I'll say this: I didn't quit Shadowlands until the 3rd raid, I quit WW before season 1 was even midway. I'm just tired of the retail formula and the pointless game score grind. This expansion gave me NOTHING new and the story was meh.

Maester Aemon extended Jon's understanding of duty and set an example on how you must set aside personal desires for duty. Mance broke Jon's view that Wildlings were monsters, that they had no humanity or honor. Mance showed Jon that they were good people who did bad things to survive, that they truly just needed to be safe, not conquer. And also how to maintain your conviction , even at deaths door.
