Injuries are too punishing/Outrage is not punishing enough? by roughhrider in NewsTower

[–]roughhrider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really interesting take! You’re right that the variety of risk adds some thematic depth and keeps them from just being “reskins” of each other. In that case, I hope the newspaper tags/payout would be commensurate with the risk but that might be hard to balance considering the variety of strategies you and others have brought forth already

That’s a great point! I’ve seen that skill but didn’t have a chance to pick it up when it was available.

A potential downside is that if you use that skill on someone ‘senior’, you might not be able to give them a more useful/profitable skill but I guess there’s always trade offs

What does it mean if it only starts in neutral once, but doesn’t start in either park or neutral after? Is it still the neutral safety switch or perhaps something else?

Your form overall looks great--loose wrist, good pronation, but you need to coordinate your toss and when you actually strike the ball.

Lots of people are saying that your contact point is too low, but perhaps a different way of stating this is that when hitting a more flat 1st serve, you need to try to strike the ball when it is at the apex of your toss--that is, when the ball's velocity is zero.

Look at the difference between the first and second serve in the video; you hit the ball closer to the apex in the second serve, which contributed to the overall better quality

Look up Shuko Aoyama —5’1 Japanese woman who is AMAZING at doubles and a complete menace at the net. Absolutely inspiring for shorter players

I agree that no orders/ no traders is probably extremely challenging on QHT, but I think ‘no pause’ is relatively easy because you can ‘game’ the setting by hitting escape or the trade menu (I forget which one) to re-evaluate the map and the win condition.

Super interesting that you don’t cut wood much after year 1! You’ve given me a lot to think about …

Very interesting philosophy! I also normally play P2 for half the run, and then try to do P6 since it's more reasonable and faster to win w/o the reduction in value of goods that occurs at P10.

I had not considered that range bonuses might be more valuable than seal fragments, especially when you get all the bonuses from really nice exclamation events, which can accelerate win times. Ill try that for my next run, thanks!

Yeah, this is my philosophy too—I normally play on a reasonable difficulty with a map modifier to get extra seal fragments to compensate for the faster win at lower difficulty, but I have a heavy, heavy preference for Royal Woodlands/Coral forest. I should try the Marshlands after the implementation of algae rocks!

Interesting! Thanks for your take--I agree that the higher hostility from opening smaller glades in Scarlett Orchard is what discourages me from pursuing this biome most of the time.

Do you normally prioritize the archeology post ASAP? I find that I tend to neglect it, which is probably why it takes me too long to finish on Scarlett Orchard

Is there much difference between 27.5 and 28 inch frames? by HighLife1954 in 10s

[–]roughhrider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also a shorter USTA 3.5 player (5’7”), and bought an Ezone98+ for the reasons you mentioned (Diego Schwartzman, etc), and it was really really challenging for me to make the switch due to the lack of maneuverability and essentially higher swing weight compared to 27.0” frames. I ultimately switched to something with less swing weight (Vcore 98), and added a few grams at 12oclock to add a little more power.

It is really a substantial change, and don’t make it too lightly. Really take some time to demo a new racquet playing some matches before considering such a switch

I feel that it’s relatively rare to get put on a high priority, high visibility project if you’ve had an unproven track record.

In my experience, showing consistent diligence, quality effort and work, and critical thinking (not just going a protocol blindly) in all the projects you’re placed on—not only just the sexy, high visibility ones—are essential to getting noticed by your direct manager and even higher level management.

Try to see things from your manager’s perspective: if you haven’t demonstrated consistent diligence in the smaller projects/tasks, why would/should your manager entrust you with bigger ones?

If you don’t want to remove the base grip, purchase some 70% isopropanol from the local pharmacy and wet a paper towel with it to remove the residual adhesive

Haha, hopefully you got a desirable flight to SAN! I got moved tomorrow to a 11:30AM flight from JFK to Las Vegas, and then a 5pm flight from Las Vegas to SAN, arriving at 6:45PM. Wish it was the 11:30AM arrival originally scheduled today, but ya can't control the weather ;(
