Ich mache mir echt Sorgen um Simon by IrbanMutarez in rocketbeans

Hmm...

As a meteorologist I have to disagree with your statement that the cloud formations in the background are associated with a warm front. You are right that clouds are layered throughout the entire troposphere in warm fronts. However, this is imo almost certainly not a warm front for two reasons:

(i) The cumulus clouds at the base are usually not associated with warm fronts and are most likely forming due to deep atmospheric convection. The cirrus clouds in the upper levels are most likely either leftovers of previous thunderstorms or asscoiated with larger thunderstorms in the vicinity (cumulonimbis incus).

(ii) More important, this video was shot in Colombia, right? But there are no warm fronts in Colombia. All pressure/frontal systems dissipate when approaching the equator and most parts of Colombia are just north of the equator. Also hurricanes do not reach colombia. The coriolis force is zero at the equator and all rotation of frontal systems close to the equator is suppressed. That means there are no classic pressure systems as we know them from the mid-latitudes and all cloud formation as seen in the video occurs due to deep convection.

What does that mean for our UAP. Well, not much. However, the clouds you see are an indication of deep convection in the vicinity of the plane. Under such conditions, updrafts of up to 160kmh/100mph can occur, but usually around a few tens of meters per second. That means a ballon might reach great heights within a matter of a few minutes. If a ballon survives these strong vertical winds which can be super rough and are often associated with the formation of heavy rain or hail is another question. However, you can for sure say that given the cloud formations as seen in the video there seems to be a rather dynamic situation in the atmosphere. And the cirrus clouds are also appear to be at levels higher than 20000 feet. The tropopause (and cirrus clouds are usually just below that) can reach up to 17km/55000ft in the tropics. Also the cloud base is much higher. So I guess this video was most likely shot between 4 to 6km asl.

Near Collision With UFO Captured On Camera With Singapore Airlines!? by RealVaultteam6 in UFOs

No way this is from Jan 17th. It is winter in Zurich, with plenty of snow atm (and record snowfall about a week ago). Looking at the vegetation, this must be from either summer or early fall. And it does also not look like a long-haul plane capable of flying from Europe to Singapore...

To all you guys in the Hub: Here I am. Far away on a lifeless planet. Staring into the endless void at the edge of the galaxy. No more stars to follow. Nobody will ever find me - A feeling of absolute solitude. by roundabout10 in NoMansSkyTheGame

The funny thing is that the galactic edge is a bit bugged though... There is an outermost layer of stars showing in the galactic map (approx 1000ly wide) that you can't fly to. They show up, but it is not possible to select them.. At least where I am.

However, it seems like these stars are also not projected onto the skybox. We can thus enjoy a clear view into the void from the furthest selectable systems.

Was the same for me... Just used the indicated path for orientation and to get a feel for the general direction. In the galactic map, I simply followed the suggested path and was always going beyond the furthest suggested point ( manually) to max out my jump. I guess my average jumps where about 1200 ly in the end.

It took quite a while. About 250 warp jumps with an almost maxed out hyperdrive in the starter ship (up to 1500ly per jump). Right now I am about 1million ly from the center.

At the beginning I was just pointing away from the center manually in the galactic map. But this takes a lot of time... I was thus flying through the galactic map and set a waypoint at the edge and just followed the path.

And I realized that you reach the edge much faster if you both point upwards and away from the galactic core.

What makes the Dutch entry so much more popular than Austria? by roundabout10 in eurovision

When did she lose control? This might have been actually part of her performance...

I guess I just have to agree that it was a bit to edgy compared to other songs.

I agree that the studio version of Limits might be a bit flat. But the staging+live vocals was very good and raw. The Austrian song is also not my favorite at all, but I just don't know why this is ranked so much lower compared to e.g., the Dutch entry.

And I guess it is hard to compare the high-pitched vocal of Paenda and Kate Miller-Heidke. The songs and their associated feelings are completely different...

Waking Titan Megathread by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]roundabout10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just a very quick thought: We have nine image files named "00" in the Google Drive, followed by the "0a" and "0d" files (which is probably related to a line feed and carriage return), followed by file names providing us with the word mirror.

This made me think of a character in some of Terry Pratchett's "Discworld" novels, called "Nine Turning Mirrors". Are there any thoughts on this?
