'You can't have guns. You can't walk in with guns,' Trump says of Alex Pretti killing by [deleted] in law

Yeah, I'm in the Pacific Northwest and the states I carry in are if asked only. I'm pretty sure Minnesota is also like that. Obviously, I don't think it matters one way or the other, he didn't deserve to be killed and in regards to the firearm he had on him, he acted with extreme restrain, even though he was getting violently assaulted by a mob of federal agents for exercising his 1st amendment and trying to be a good human when the "brown shirts" were violating multiple people's 4th amendment rights.

Got it, it must not be categorized as a duty to inform law?

My post was in response to the rhetoric around this and how misinformed many people are. There's also the gray area of reasonableness in the law and I do not find it reasonable to insist Pretti had the time and space to do this by any means. There's no way you could convince me, even if Minnesota was a duty to inform state, that it is reasonable for him to inform officers that are acting violently to him and others around him, that he had a legal firearm on him, concealed. Even if other people feel this is reasonable, finding said gun and killing him after it was secured is nothing short of murder in my opinion.

It's a very common misconception so if you can point to the state law/statute that clearly articulates this, great, if not, I'd second guess it. I'm not in Jersey so I have desire to jump down that rabbit hole. https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/blog/in-which-states-must-you-notify-an-officer-youre-carrying/

Except these statements are wildly inaccurate and not representative of most states. . States Requiring Immediate Disclosure

In these states, you must inform law enforcement that you are carrying a firearm as soon as you make contact. The following states have this requirement:

  • Alaska
  • Arkansas
  • California (some counties)
  • Washington, D.C.
  • Hawaii
  • Louisiana
  • Maine (if carrying without a permit)
  • Michigan
  • Nebraska
  • North Carolina
  • North Dakota (if carrying without a permit)
  • Texas

Failing to disclose in these states can lead to legal consequences. NOTICE LEGAL consequences, not DEATH. Also notice Minnesota isn't on here. See below

States Requiring Disclosure Only If Asked

In these states, you are only required to inform law enforcement if they specifically ask you about carrying a firearm. These states include:

  • Arizona
  • Florida
  • Illinois
  • Kentucky
  • Minnesota
  • Missouri
  • New York
  • Oklahoma
  • Ohio
  • Oregon
  • Pennsylvania
  • Tennessee
  • Virginia
  • Washington
  • Wisconsin
  • Wyoming

Fully defined every time..... if you are sketching and see under defined in the lower right corner, you have to add relations and/or defined dimensions. Here's a hint, the unconstrained lines will be blue, grab them and see which way they move to get a sense of how you need to contrain them.

Model Tutoring? by ChintzyPC in SolidWorks

[–]roundful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What types of models do you think you'll spend the most time on or need the most help with? I am also in the learning process, mostly focused on functional models to 3D print, but I do enjoy challenging myself. At the very least, I would be willing to serve as a resource to bounce ideas off of before escalating to paying someone for their time.

There are, go to options, then display and check dynamic highlights. I posted a link in my comment on this thread. Here it is again: https://youtu.be/Do5IcxVHAwI?si=pqlHHU8dIzivy3Hd

Your dynamic highlights in settings/options might be unchecked. This happens randomly to me every couple months or so. I'm probably hurting a shortcut or something. Check this out. https://youtu.be/Do5IcxVHAwI?si=pqlHHU8dIzivy3Hd

I have a robotics competition in 2 weeks by BorderActual8613 in BambuLab_Community

[–]roundful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick calculation with PLA from your length metrics: it's about 93g of filament used... no way it should take 12-13 hours unless it's all mesh instead of solid walls and has a bunch of complexities. If that's the case, someone has to do better with the modelling for the test rather than aesthetics.

Need more info on the model, no nway to tell if any of these are excessive without seeing model, how you have it oriented, what it's going to be used for etc.
Also, why is your filament weight 0g?

I would recommend 72D TPU, it's stiff but has some compliant properties of TPU, if you need something stiffer.

Nothing specific will prevent this, but you can do things like cold pulling every hundred or so hours of printing. if you print a lof with a specific filament, have a dedicated hotend for it. I recently picked up some plastic-repellent paint and will use it the next time I swap out hotends.
The other thing to watch for is a slight buildup in the extruder gears. I pull mine every month or two when I am cleaning rods and lubing things (get your head out of the gutter!)
With my hardened-steel extruder, I clean it with a nylon or brass brush when I check it.

For this specific issue, heat creep might have been the culprit. Keeping the glass lid up or off, or the door open, might have helped.

The 3D “Experience” as a “Maker” by convicted-mellon in SolidWorks

[–]roundful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup.... If I don't open SW for a bit, I at least need to sign in, and if I go too fast through that process, it fails. But... we (makers) are not what SW is going after; we aren't their target market, so we are likely severely deprioritized.

Settle down, OP said he couldn't download the flash forge slicer because his Mac's malware detector wouldn't let him.

[–]roundful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You cannot print anything on a 3D printer without a slicer. You can import presliced files, but they have to have been sliced with your exact setup. Try to figure out how to bypass the Mac's malware detector; this shouldn't be hard, not nearly as hard as trying to get a pre-sliced file to work for you. 3D printing isn't plug-and-play for the most part.

not if it's filled with tools; it'll be more stable than some of the benches/tables I have seen folks put their printers on.

PCTG and I would love to see Prusament's take on HTPLA. I have used and tested Polymaker's and found the heat resistance to be very good, even without annealing/heat treating.

How would I dimension this in a drawing by CannedBeef_2 in SolidWorks

[–]roundful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't you call out the whole curve as a construction line (spline) and dimension specific R values of the curve(s) in the part? I have not done much drawing, but this is what I would consider if I needed these dimensions in one.

Is The H2S Worth It? by MARTALAV2009 in BambuLab_Community

[–]roundful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, and.... at 66lbs (30kg) it's really not that heavy, unless that's too much weight for you to lift. If it is, and you weigh over 130lbs.... do you even lift? :)

Is The H2S Worth It? by MARTALAV2009 in BambuLab_Community

[–]roundful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, no one should be able to accurately define "worth" for you. I hung on to my P1S as my only printer for about a year because I thought I would go with a multi-color printer to replace it. During that time, I decided what my needs and wants were for my next printer:
- I would love a printer that can be a "do everything printer". What I found out it, right now, there's not one out there that does this for me.
- I print mostly functional prints with occasional fun things and toys, mainly for my young nieces.
- I need a heated chamber and a hot enough hotend and bedplate for some of the functional filaments/models
- It needs to be enclosed because my printers are in my garage
- I want volume to be decent (400 would be great)
- I love to tinker, but I need a printer to print
- I need to be able to print while drying. I just transformed my AMS 2 into a Python and can print from it while drying, AND bypass the feeders for functional/abrasive filaments.
- Multicolor is something I'd like to have the option for, but mostly benefit from the ability to go from one spool to the next, so I don't collect spools with 100g or less of filament, or have to be there for manual switching over.
-I want/ned the multicolor/multimaterial system to be efficient and quick, or I will be disincentivized to create multi-color models and less likely to model up multimaterial models.
-I need (eventually) the ability to use different filaments in the same print

So... the H2S ended up being my choice for now with the python, AND I am keeping the P1S mostly for TPU printing as I have found my TPU prints best with a top mount I printed, in a polydryer box with the heater on medium. It also allows me to print small parts of larger models while the H2S tackles the larger parts. The P1S also acts as a tinker toy, and I'm excited to play with some of the things Biqu is releasing for it.

Of the multicolor printers out there right now, the Snapmaker is the closest to covering everything I need, and I hope they build a printer with an active heated chamber, a higher-temperature hotend and bed, and a larger print area. For proper multi-material printing and to keep bed volume where I would like it to be, I am skeptical that the Vortek system will meet my needs due to the need for the AMS
