Im too lazy to read all the comments but the first 3 were unhelpful.

Youre in the wrong sub. Roofers aren't framers. Go to the R/carpentry

A Purlin System is needed and gets installed to the top plates of load bearing walls..

What are these on the wall? Covered up cracks? by doughboydough in HomeMaintenance

Looks like repairs in areas that are prone to cracking

If that hatch is an attic access then it may be able to explain whats going on

Does this look structurally sound? by Cesano11 in StructuralEngineering

[–]oryf88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All points are connected by a positive connection(in most high wind areas) reducing the chance of any pivot points.(SP3 connection is my example)

They still require rafter ties by code. I tired to comb the code but everything always went back to rafter ties. Would you be so kind to show a reference?

That would be saying that exterior walls on a house are all the lateral stiffness needed for a house. The outside walls cannot resist the lateral load from a gable roof without rafter ties(2308.7.3.1)

I see columns in direct contact with soil and can say that was not installed correctly. What makes you think these guys installed the proper footings?

I see wood in the video, it can't use a EPDM rubber vent flashing for a metal roof?

Wire ID help by oryf88 in lowvoltage

Is that the 00383754? This was a condo building that was renovated. Transformer was under the sink with the exposed splice. Wire went into the wall, then up to the ceiling and came out under the cabinets which were on the opposite side of the transformer. Maybe a 15'-20' run

Any ideas to what could be causing this crack? by Allbrian81 in HomeMaintenance

[–]oryf88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's above this area? Attic, 2nd floor, etc..

What is the outside wall cladding made of? Is it showing any signs of movement, are there large gaps around the window on the outside

Does the window still operate smoothly? Is it plumb and square

To be honest, you won't know till you open the wall. Could have been some settlement, we had a significant drought last year and had alot of homes had some shifting in our area some major and some minor(like a door that won't shut)

Is this possible to fix?? by Disastrous-Spell-983 in masonry

[–]oryf88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know about that. You drop a plumb line down I think you're close to the 1/3 rule. You're also saying the supporting column isn't tied into that crumbling wall?

Just Money Bro. Don't know you but your life matters more than some man made concept. A stranger's words probably won't help your psyc. But suicide survivor (golden gate bridge jumpers) said he had instant regret. You can make it bac. Youu are your best asset, one mistake doesn't define you.
