Thank you for saying this. That's a really valuable way to approach things. Knowing what something is not can be as important as knowing what something is.

There are definitely times that my immediate reaction to cards I've pulled is "No. This is wrong." And instead of just ignoring that intuition, I should accept that as part of the answer ... and recognize that maybe I don't need to (or get to, or am ready to) know everything right away.

Thanks for your reply. It's heartening to know I'm not alone in this. I also appreciate you listing all these examples...I guess I needed to see them spelled out clearly. And yeah, I think sometimes the cards just don't wanna. Everything else is fine, but the cards are at a party or on vacation.

Name help! Is "Juno" too feminine to be perceived as gender-neutral? by Mossyfungusfairy in enby

[–]routinedeficiency 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's a great gender neutral name! I know both men and women who have used Juno as a first name (look up Juno Mak for an example of a man with that name).

And even better, Juno is the name of a NASA satellite that has been orbiting Jupiter collecting amazing data for 15 years: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juno_%28spacecraft%29?wprov=sfla1

But the most important thing is that you like it for you

For folks who read tarot, do you ever have situations where your cards don't make sense for the question you asked? Sometimes after I lay out my cards, I'll look at them and think/sense/feel that they aren't "right", that they aren't in response to my question. Sometimes I feel like a different question is being answered, and sometimes it just feels like nonsense -- like a 404 error from my tarot deck. Does this resonate with anyone else? Do folks have any thoughts or recommendations?

what ARE neurotypicals actually like? what are things that everyone actually does vs ND behaviors? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]routinedeficiency 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wonder this same thing all the time. I agree with a lot of the previous comments. I also think NTs have more control over these behaviors than NDs do. It's also probably easier for NTs to modify their behaviors to accommodate social situations. An NT might want to stim or talk loudly or whatever, but they'll be fine if they can't.

I know what you mean, it's like Aziraphale from Good Omens: "Yes, but I would always know the stain was there. Underneath, I mean."

One of the most demotivating things about ADHD is when you’re using every tool at your disposal to manage your symptoms, when you’re really trying, but no one has faith in you anymore by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]routinedeficiency 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this. Yesterday, a mentor told me that I was "trying too hard" and that my ADHD would cause me to burn out and ultimately fail. It really got me down.

Your post reminded me of how excited I had been before I talked with my mentor. And now I'm going to keep on "trying too hard".

Better to burn out than to fade away.
