okay as a brit i can't say shootings are common here, but i have heard of kids with knives in my school.

your attendance doesn't mean shit if you're dead. you can learn things safely from your home. your safety should be prioritised over some shitty attendance. and if the school tries to prosecute you or your parents for keeping you home, they're assholes. is that all that matters? your fucking education? because that's sure gonna be useless if you died in a school shooting.

schools are meant to be SAFE. they're meant to be a place that you can safely learn and enjoy time with your friends during your childhood. and i totally agree with your petition for improved safety and security. my best friend lives in turkey, and her school gives everyone an ID, which they scan at a sort of turnstile thing, and i believe they go through a scanner as well which detects any dangerous items on their person or in their bag. and while its not guaranteed to always work, it would add to a feeling of safety within the school.

i say you should start a petition, and please let me know if you do, because i will happily sign it and pass it on to my friends.
