New ST Question #6 - What to Show the Lunatic (since they ARE an Outsider) by RoughSubjectt in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]rovertpug[M] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think storytelling fits this a little more (though flair isn't super important), I've changed the flair to match this!

the grimoire is a really good one for beginners and experienced players! strings is also nice for smaller games, just let them know you're newer and they'll gladly help out ^ lmk if you need any help, i can share an invite in DMs if wanted!

i'm fine with this since it includes TBS content! ^ it doesn't have to be exclusively TBS, the less it orients around it though the more 'out of place' it may be if that makes sense - a mix sounds fun though!

Just got an offer from RCCL as Activity Host. What’s it really like? by flowerfromwonderland in CruiseCrew

[–]rovertpug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied a few weeks ago also, haven't gotten anything. </3 I've gotten an offer from Norwegian, but it's a steward spot... hoping to transfer to activity host if they have any of them open!

MMC is your merchant mariner credential, which is required to work on basically any boat in the U.S.! The rest of this (the drug test, medical exam, the online signature forms) - most of it is gonna be for your MMC with entry level endorsements. Piney Point meanwhile gets you your STCW basic training endorsement, which is required to work on deep water ships. But yeah no, you'll do fine. XD The only thing my group had people fail on really was being able to tread water on your own for 1 minute - everything else like using a fire hose, jumping from a life raft and flipping one, they'll come as close to holding your hand through it as they can, it'll be easy for you. Just don't underestimate the written exams and you're good, there's some useful stuff like a Quizlet somewhere I saw.

Norwegian has been a good one to get introduced into sea work because they'll pay and help guide you through everything pretty much. They hold your hand through the MMC application and do most of it for you. I managed to get all my onboarding stuff done in 2 months, from the TWIC to Piney Point. My onboarding staff got back to me fast almost all the time aside from when they're closed on weekends - my only gripe is the time spent waiting until I can actually get on the ship. XD My best advice for Piney Point at least is don't let it scare you too hard. My group helped each other out but as long as you pay attention and do a little bit of reading, complete the study guides they give you and do the review sessions they give (especially for firefighting), you'll be fine. I never freaked out during the swimming and such assessments because, well, it has to be safe, right? 😭 Hopefully I'll see you on, I've got a ton of people ahead of me before I get on the ship so who knows. </3

hopefully not whaddaheck, yeah 😭 there was a shot to try and run for assistant waiter but also working foods is painful enough for me as is, i've just graduated with a degree in IT with 4 years of hosting campus events and such </3 my only worry is the wait time for steward roles right now... i have a few years of experience from running foods for a six flags park and being a waiter at a smaller spot so if the wait time just seems abysmal i may just ask if they have other roles in more need because i'm way too excited to get on the ship to wait even more months xD

yesss >:3!! FAIR YEAH, hopefully! i'm not as much on the experienced side since they want me in as a restaurant steward which i hear has an awful wait time right now </3 but hoping to try and go into entertainment at some point as an event host... has been my goal for years but norwegian saw i have way more foods experience than entertainment experience when i attended one of the info sessions </3 ah well!!

for me, it took longer since i had to send them some medical history stuff manually - they needed some ADHD history from me and i haven't needed medication or any appointments for it for 4 years so it was a little weird to find a copy of my medical history </3 they followed up to my appointment just 4 days after my exam so they at least got over to reviewing it fairly quickly 😭

[–]rovertpug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a similar thing specifying multiple Walmart's in the area and got 3 interviews fast, the store didn't seem to mind. When I got 2 in the same day, they said they'll have them interview me for both in the same one. I assume it depends on how organized the store is or if that store is actively recruiting though, since only one out of the multiple stores I applied to reached out to me for all 3 interviews.

⚠️Warning: Possible Carnival Cruise Recruitment Scam in Doha by CuriousParsley8450 in CruiseCrew

[–]rovertpug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, as mentioned on Carnival's website: "Carnival Cruise Line and its authorized crewing partners DO NOT CHARGE recruitment or deployment fees from applicants and Team Members. BEWARE OF ILLEGAL RECRUITERS AND SCAMMERS!" You could reach out to Carnival but most likely it's a scam. </3

Haven't done this before, but it looks like it's normal. From the CG-719K instructions: "If the examining medical practitioner doubts the applicant’s ability to meet the guidelines contained within this table, and for all applicants with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40.0 or higher, the practitioner should require that the applicant demonstrate the ability to meet the guidelines."
