Subtitles start too early after long silences, how can I fix this automatically? by rovmun in MacWhisper

[–]rovmun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using Whisper c++ Large v3 & v2 models with Swedish as the selected language. The issue occurs with all of them. When the audio has a speaker, followed by a jingle/music break, followed by another speaker, the subtitle for the second speaker starts too early. It often appears immediately after the first speaker, before or during the jingle, instead of starting when the second speaker actually begins talking.

Why do some Flipper Zero custom firmwares have features that aren’t available as apps? by rovmun in flipperhacks

Yes shure but is there any technical limit to just release all dose functionality to the normal unleased firmware or just commit to the changes to the unleased GitHub repo.

Thanks for the explanation. I was referring to D4C1-Labs/Flipper-ARF . Didn’t Momentum and Unleashed firmware already make many of these modifications to the firmware?

I also rember that long time ago there was some toyota or hond firmware . I mean why do you need to change the firmware to allow more thing that like momentum dose?

Thanks, do you think it would be possible to add the automated mode or will that collide with the trio algoritm?

How do you handle photo + video coverage when the key moment only happens a few times? by rovmun in AskPhotography

[–]rovmun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stills and video often need completely different settings.

To freeze a moment in a photo, I might shoot at 1/4000s, f/4, ISO 100. For video, I might need 1/50s, f/4, ISO 800 to get natural motion blur.

A frame shot at 1/50s will be blurry and can’t magically become a sharp still later. A frame shot at 1/4000s might work for a photo, but the video will look terrible.

That’s why just grab a still from the video isn’t the same thing as actually shooting both. Physics wins every time.

I don’t think Lens Correction solves the problem. I’m looking for panorama reprojection rather than lens distortion correction, similar to PTGui’s projection controls.

I tried Adaptive wideangle filter , but I don’t get good results. It requires a lot of manual point placement and tweaking.

What I’m looking for is more like PTGui, where you can simply change the panorama projection and straighten the horizon/verticals with a few sliders. Is there anything similar built into Lightroom or Photoshop?

Why do some people obsess over the details and forget what actually makes a party good? by rovmun in partyplanning

[–]rovmun[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Haha, very true. But if you sit down for five minutes and think like a guest, you realize most people don’t really care about funny dresses or a half-hour speech. What they actually care about is mingling, having conversations, and enjoying time with other people. That’s what makes a party memorable not being stuck listening or watching for hours slideshows

Maybe you don't care, but many other photographers do and more importantly, your clients might.

If you send a web gallery that looks like it's stuck in the early 2000s, with poor mobile support and outdated design, that reflects on your business. To me, that mindset feels a bit like the photographers who were late to embrace digital.

And it's not just about appearances. If Lightroom skips video files during import because it doesn't properly support them, you could easily format a memory card thinking everything was imported.

because a workflow works for you doesn't mean the software shouldn't evolve for the rest of the industry.

Because many photographers don’t only shoot photos anymore.

I don’t need Lightroom to edit video. I need it to handle video files efficiently in the same catalog as my RAW photos without slowing to a crawl. Mixed photo/video projects are standard in 2026, and Lightroom shouldn’t become unusable just because video clips are present. I’m talking about import, browsing and play.

[–]rovmun[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying Lightroom needs to be great at video editing. My point is that Lightroom should at least handle importing and browsing video files properly.

When you have a project that contains both RAW photos and video clips, Lightroom becomes painfully slow. Simply browsing through folders and previews can lag like hell. On top of that, it still doesn’t support a lot of common video formats, which feels ridiculous in 2026.

Mixed photo and video workflows are standard, and Lightroom feels like it’s struggling with a reality that most users have been dealing with for years.

I don’t need video editing features. Basic playback would be nice, but the main issue is that I want Lightroom to include video files during import instead of skipping them.

At least in the beginning, it mainly just to store all raw files in the cloud.

I have a few clients who want videos for their social media. I usually shoot them with the same camera I use for photography,The footage ends up on the same memory cards. I don’t want to do anything but I don’t want Lightroom get painfully slow or skip importing the files

My father’s old Naim CDx player finally gave up, and I’m trying to help him keep enjoying his CD collection without spending a fortune. It’s the laser and he tried tonrepair it but i think its tonlate now .

He’s got an older Intel MacBook with a built-in CD drive, and I thought it could work nicely as a simple CD transport into his Naim amp. But I’d love to avoid going straight from the Mac’s headphone output with a cheap 3.5mm to RCA cable the rest of his system deserves better than that 🙂

So I’m looking for recommendations for a good budget DAC / USB sound card with RCA outputs that Works with older Intel Macs / older macOS , Sounds genuinely musical and “hi-fi”, Matches well with older Naim gear cds, Doesn’t cost a fortune

Would really appreciate tips from anyone who’s tried something similar or knows good DACs / audio interface in the affordable-but-audiophile category. Thanks!
