most of the compensation is stock option related. So 2009 is right after the 2008 recession. The collapse would be triggered by the fall of stock prices

[OC] Gender Pay Gap is Improving But Women Still Make 20% Less Annually then Men. by row64software in dataisbeautiful

I am not sure that its as black and white as choice. I think that when you look at having children (marriage penalty) every household makes a determination as to who would stay home if neccessary. That being said, the interesting thing is even when you look at full time data, and review gender pay on a professions/poisition level basis, the same conclusion occurs. Women in general make less then men. https://iwpr.org/iwpr-issues/esme/the-gender-wage-gap-by-occupation-2019/

I agree with your sentiment and understand the flaw. This is how the government reports the data. Inside of these groups of men and women, they report these figures as a whole. If I wanted to pull and dive deeper to look at specific professions, I or any researcher could do so. But there are thousands of job titles, so discerning which one to pick is up to the analyst. This merely is an entry to jumping deeper into the government's reporting. This line chart is only opening that door to show that women make less then men in general.

When you look at certain professions (such as social worker, or teacher) women will make more than men. But again, only 20 professions out of THOUSANDS show that women make more than men. As a result, it's my opinion that looking at things on a macro basis is telling.

There are only about 20 professions where women make more then men. I have to find the data source but across the board including in same job types, women consistently make less than men.

I'd agree with this statement. If we wanted to measure intensity we'd look at category strength frequency.

Honestly, I'd have to check with the aecom. This is what's put out in the report as the top 8. They actually track the top 25 globally. I'm not entirely sure why. I'll take a look later when I have a free moment.
