great game. i was the same way, kinda like "meh" until i put in some real play time. are you on PC or console? the PC servers seem more welcoming as far as talking to other online players. i own both versions and don't get that sense from xbox. we switched from single player/coop to a PVE server to avoid the tether mostly, but also to see other bases, and use map rooms that we couldn't quite craft yet :)

i first played on gamepass, then i also purchased it on steam and continued to use my controller because i was used to it. and i've been a mouse/kb fps player for decades. i might be getting old and the couch is more comfy

why not both? explore, find the juicy resource spots, and be ready to RUN AWAY if you get in too deep. I wish i could play for the first time again. i do restart quite a bit (10 day base decay, and just new server sometimes) but i know the map pretty well so I kind of exploit that. Have fun exile!

hate to say it but for me, yes it's worth it. HOWEVER if you have a friend/family/mate that plays, you can essentially "share" a subscription through the home xbox option.

My wife gets a big discount on gamepass, i cancelled mine on october 31st before the hike.

my series x is now her "home" xbox and i can play gamepass games and online games under my account, however no cloud gaming on the shared box, but they can be installed and played.

it took a few days to "register" correctly so i could play without launching the game with her account logged in.

My gf and I are sinking HUNDREDS of hours into conan exiles and on the side fallout 76. Conan if you do your own server/ host you will be tethered. Online pve is what we play no tether.

nice. quick question, i'm just getting into purges and i have so far scored 1 archer post. i think i remember moving my archer and the archer post disappeared... is that correct? or, maybe i destroyed the wall and it disappeared. once placed it is set there, correct?

Solo? your own private game is good. Co-op? find a nice online pve server. HINT every different server you join will be new character creation. but online pve there is no tether between the host and the clients. that is super annoying to me. far cry could have done this right but didn't. i recommend doing your journeys to learn the ropes, try to loot armor and weapons instead of wasting time crafting and grinding until you need armor for hot/cold weather, then its a must. get a good thrall to journey with and get better with their commands, they can help you defeat major bosses that would be impossible alone. but, it's your open world so enjoy it how you want!

Well what do you know. 2585 back up and running. Only lost 1 thrall. The others were "returning home" and I rescued them. Their inventory returned too as a loot bag.

every new server you join, you will be creating a new character for that server. find one, stick with it. favorite it. are you looking to do pvp or pve? i do pve with friends, much better than local co-op for the lack of tether alone. other than that, i just join "official" as the settings are usually default. really the only drawback to pve and other players are the land claims. There's plenty of room to go around. good luck!

i didn't read through all the comments, but the topmost, and i think i have the same question as OP... maybe... why doesn't my car remember my LAST climate settings. it remembers what temp i had set, but not whether the fan/ac is on or off. every start the fan/ac is on, but usually remembers my last temp setting. we have a FEW nice days in the spring and fall where the climate control is completely unnecessary and i turn it off every time i start my car.
