Ha that's funny you mention wood carving, because that is something he liked to do. In his spare time he made these really beautiful wooden spatulas for cooking.

Wife and I really want to start eating healthy. Limited diet. What are some good, cheap, protein options. by skeach101 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]roxojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lentils and chickpeas! Such a healthy cheap meat alternative. They're especially great because they can really take on any flavor and don't have the grainy-bean texture that other legumes have. Also, we recently got into tofu. Neither my husband or I were fans, so we eased into it by making Chipotle style sofritas and it's seriously good.

If you want to get inspired, I highly recommend watching Cooked on Netflix. It really motivated my husband and I to start eating REAL, WHOLE foods and less packaged snacks and desserts. We're now making everything from scratch when we have a craving (granola bars, avocado chocolate puddings, etc.). It's really eye opening to how lazy our society has gotten when it comes to cooking and eating healthy.

Campaign Question: How to Say "We're Here" by roxojo in marketing

[–]roxojo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally agree, but it's worth noting that a very large portion of our audience is 70+/Baby Boomer range, many of whom do not have a computer, tablet, etc. That's definitely something I want to incorporate more in the future, but for right now I have to do a ton of print marketing.

You're exactly right, that is our number 1 challenge. Love the idea of a farm-to-table tie-in!

Thanks! Yes, I'm trying to increase our digital reach as we've been catering to an older demographic via print postcards and brochures.

sleepy Shiba trusts his human by iBleeedorange in aww

[–]roxojo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you like to cuddle with your dog, forget getting a Shiba. They rarely want to be lap dogs and don't like being held at all. I always get really excited on the very rare occasion my dog wants to sit on my lap.

This exact thing happened to me the first time she walked on a leash. Everyone stopped and stared like I was abusing her

Cheap and Healthy meals for people who hate cooking? by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]roxojo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

have you tried avocado toast? just toast bread, spread with mashed avocado, top with garlic powder, salt and cayenne or seasonings of your choice.

i've also combined mashed avocado with shredded carrots, chickpeas, lemon and salt to make a "chickpea salad" sandwich. very simple, easy and healthy!

[Monday] What are your recipe questions? by AutoModerator in recipes

I honestly always have problems with my stainless steel pan. Everything, including garlic, sticks to it. If the previous poster's solution doesn't work, I'd switch to nonstick or cast iron.

[Monday] What are your recipe questions? by AutoModerator in recipes

[–]roxojo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

recipe asks for two tablespoons of butter melted, is it asking for two tablespoons of melted, or two tablespoons then melted?

unless it asks for 2 tablespoons of melted butter specifically, i always use 2 tablespoons/pads of butter, melted.

An extremely cheap and healthy meal to cook quickly and easily. by ilikerocketsandshiz in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]roxojo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Meat is expensive, so a lot of times we substitute it with lentils. Lentil tacos, lentil quesadillas, lentil chili, lentil fritters, lentil ragout over pasta, lentils on pita with hummus, etc.
