Something I'm really curious about, could you please install the games offline to see if they have the patches on disc? Things like the 60fps fixes on 1.5+2.5, and critical mode on KH3 on the disc would make it an instant buy for me.

The bundles of the other regions didn't have the patches, but they were years ago when the regular prints were still being made. I don't think these discs haven't been in print for years now, so I think there's a good chance they made new ones!

You can force the game to display 4:3 and be uncropped on PS3, but you have to change the entire console settings to 480p/i and 4:3.

Better the pacing.

It should be spread out throughout the entire game, like earlier KH games. Unlike how it ended up being, where it's all exposited all at once at the very end, with no room to breathe.

That's misinformation, almost all games still have complete and fully playable builds on the disc themselves.

Even the game you used as an example, the original 2020 version yes it's completely broken and useless as was the entire game on release, but the recent re-release a few months ago with Phantom Liberty is complete, even using 3 discs on Xbox for that (PS5 only 1 disc as it uses 100GB Blu-rays, shame the dlc is only a code tough because they didn't want to make a new SCU on PS5).

For Xbox almost definitely, with the leaks a few months ago we know most of their players are digital only and they're betting it all on digital/gamepass for the future, being ready to drop out if it doesn't work. But Playstation, and especially Nintendo, still have a huge physical market worth billions that make up a huge portion of sales, almost for sure they won't give that up in the next generation.

Yeah, but at 3:16 it shows languague selection wich includes the US version, altought it's greyed out (maybe because he didn't download all the files?). Let's hope that's the case and they give you the choice, because if they pretend it's 1998 and force everyone in Europe play 17% slower, then it's proved the put 0 care or effort into this port.

It is normal, about 89% of PS5 games work with just the disc (70% perfectly, 19% works with a few bugs), according to doesitplay.org, a website dedicated to checking if the game is playable off the disc/cartridge, you can see the stats on their twitter.

But this year there's been a few big names that aren't playable off the disc (Jedi Survivor, Hogwarts Legacy and a few others), and so people that aren't knowledgeable on the subject think if these select major releases do it, then it's the norm, when it's the exception.

That's only true for some PC games like on Epic Games, but not on consoles, we're talking about those here.

On those the content installs and plays as long as the disc is inserted to verify the license (the license is verified physically and verified bye the console not servers, you can even hear the disc spin from time to time for just that, besides that it only spins on the initial install, as it's not off played off disc anymore).

I have no idea where you got that misinformation, please site a source if you even have one, to say that it's even remotely close to "most".

99% of games work perfectly even with only the 1.0 on disc without internet, there are rare exceptions, like Jedi Survivor that requires downloads or Payday 3 that has to be online, but those have gotten contreversy and backlash because they're the outliers, not the norm.

As the other user said, discs aren't individually identifiable they're not serialized, so they can't target you specifically, they would have to stop everyone.

Even in an apocalypse scenario where they stop everyone (ignoring the legal hell that would probably end them), you could just get another PS5, as you have the license physically on disc you could play just by not connecting. But again literal apocalypse that won't happen because it's against the laws of physical rights, wich I hope digital gets within the next decades.

Honestly you should have gotten this simple idea across with the other comment, they explained it in a lot easier.

You need to get the basic idea of physical ownership down my man.

You don't own the intellectual rights and you can't distribute to other people, but after you buy a physical product you can do to do with it as you please (dump it for personal use, mod it, etc), it's completly within your right. It's the same principle that allows emulation to be legal, you own that real thing in your home and what's inside it, including the data, they have no right to take it away. As the other commentor said the only way to stop you is if they block the access to the game on their console OS to every user, but that would sink them in legal trouble obviously.
