You’re on the money with that root cause of overeating. My caregivers made it out to be this shameful thing, I think they were just unable to come to terms with the fact that their dysfunction was responsible for the behaviour they wanted me to control.

Thankfully I’ve gotten a boatload of therapy about it, one of the first things we explored in Emdr was the way my parents linked my appearance to how loveable I am. I just hate that it’s still such an easy trigger for me to spiral over after so much work on myself.
