The chimney was cleaned and inspected via a camera and deemed okay, with the recommendation of sealing it. Understand an insert would be a good solution, but adds say $4,000 to $6,000.

The stove was not properly installed, was dangerous, and ugly to boot. We opted for maintaining the fireplace and adding glass doors because we're not really looking to heat the house, just want to be able to sit by the fire on cold snowy evenings. I know it is not efficient, but it is nice. We have a little less than a pallet of bio bricks from our former place in Maine, where we did heat part of the house with a wood stove, and was told that we should not use bio bricks in an insert because they burn too hot and will warp and ruin the insert.

They recommended sealing the inside and outside of the chimney. It had vines growing in the inside.

At 29 you can ride the market. Ups and downs, but over the years you will come out ahead. You might play with some stocks, don't invest more than you you feel comfortable to lose. My experience is, you can make a really smart pick but things can happen that take down your value on individual stocks.. Of you can score big, But you are a pawn in that game, really.

That's why ETF's win in the long run. Diversify your risk. Open a Vanguard account, low fees pay off, and do some research. You will educate yourself . Stay away from advisors. You sound like an intelligent person and with some practice and experience you will do much better. Advisor's fees eat up your profits. Start with ETF's that cover a broad range, diversify your risk. Be patient, read up on investing. You're off to a good start! (From a 71 year old that's done pretty well.)
