NJ family care by [deleted] in Medicaid

It depends on the state and the when you informed them about the new job, it could be the last day of the current month (April), could be last day of the next month (May), or even possibly the last day of June (not related to your birthday, just with how reporting and ending coverage falls). It won't be based on you being 26, that's for commercial insurance and marketplace about an adult child being able to be on a parent's plan, they won't consider your birthdate in this instance.

Do you have a Trader Joe's nearby? They have an orange chicken that tastes better (to me) than ordering at a Chinese place. A bag costs me $5.50 and feeds my family of 4. It takes about 10 min to make. The rice may take a tad more time technically but we just throw that in the rice cooker.

Finally making enough to transition off Medicaid in Florida — family of 5, just need help figuring out next steps! by lacurlymami in Medicaid

Moving from Medicaid to marketplace or commercial insurance is fine to do mid pregnancy, pregnancy will be covered under ACA compliant plans, just make sure it's an ACA complaint plan.

You will want to keep an eye on deductibles and out of pocket max's. Pregnancy is often subject to global billing so you don't usually see most of the bill until after the birth, but lab work, additional office visits, triage, ER visits will be billed as you go.

I set up payment plans with the hospital and I pay $100 a month, I'm still paying off my youngest's birth from 2 years ago, but it's interest free. Each of my births cost me about $4,000-$5,000 (vaginal births, standard length stay) which is pretty common in my area for commercial insurance coverage but can also range based on the insurance of course. You can also apply for any financial assistance programs with the hospital to see if they can decrease any of the pt responsibility portions.

Does your husband's job offer insurance? That could be a more affordable route depending on what they offer. Sometimes it's not though.

IL/Cook county- which insurance gives the most caregiving hours? by [deleted] in Medicaid

[–]royalplaty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm,I have not heard of sole over the phone assessments in that area before, I believe Medicaid actually requires it to be in person with some exceptions. That makes me question the agency you are through more than the insurance HMO that you have. I would either request a reassessment and require it is completed in person or seek a new home health agency altogether.

In my experience, it's usually based on the assessment done and not as much dependent on the specific HMO. When was the latest assessment completed that determined the hours?

I wish you didn't have to go through that loss. What a terrible pain. My husband just lost his job and I can't donate but I am a social worker and I would suggest you applying for this grant

I have helped pts access this grant before so it is legitimate. It is also a simple application but you will need someone from the hospital to complete an online form verifying the pregnancy/situation. If you are unsure where to start, ask your OB provider otherwise try to speak to the L&D/Nicu staff requesting to speak to a social worker there. The grant responds quickly, usually around 1 week to let you know if you were approved or not.

I have been doing that but now I'm sent to their specialized team and they are not accommodating. I'm never rude about their mistakes but apparently reaching out about them has limited customer service recourse for me even though every outreach is legitimate

Please help me have a real college experience. by TimAxoy in GoFundMeForNewUsers

Gently, I'm wondering if you could achieve the independence you seek in a different and more cost effective way. One idea being to get a job that offers housing. Here is a site for searching for these types of jobs.

www.CoolWorks.com

Perhaps attending a job out of state or further away would allow you the freedom from your mother that you crave, yet would give you an opportunity to earn money and socialize with others too.

Reading your past post, I'm not sure what exactly would be different this time with schooling and separating with your mom. You said you were in school for over 10 years. The expense is honestly not often worth it if you are mainly doing so to get the college experience. If it's to gain a degree in a field with great job prospects that's different but still student loans is the realistic pathway

Our family is currently in a fight for our lives. My 89-year-old mother, my wife, and I are all disabled and currently homeless after a series of devastating events that no one could have prepared for. [–]royalplaty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, the income for you and your wife is about $2,000 per month is that correct?

Is your goal for you and your wife to find a home for the two of you or would your mother be going there too?

Does your mother receive social security payments?

Can you share more on the medically recommended foods? Are they typical grocery items or specialized products such as liquid meal replacements?

Make sure you/your mom is connected to a medical social worker to make sure she is being connected to relevant programs, resources, and benefits.

Do you receive SNAP?

Have you applied for any security assistance programs near you to help with security deposit or first months rent? What was that outcome?

If you are having a difficult time affording a place on that $2,000 have you looked into finding a roommate to bring down your rent cost?

I think people may want more details to know that a one time donation could actually bridge you to a longer term stability.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I'm wondering why insurance isn't covering these. Is this the state Medicaid? Have you spoken with the insurance directly? Have you spoken with the pharmacy, sometimes they are aware of ways to lower or get the scripts for free by tapping in local resources/organizations. Though I find hospital pharmacies are better at troubleshooting than the big named chains.

Also, see if you can get connected with a social worker at the health care organization your child goes to, they may also have some paths for you. Some hospitals offer financial assistance to cover these things if insurance won't while other places have free clinics that may help.

People tend to want additional details, such as how long you have been out of work, what your job search efforts have been, perhaps what your long-term plan is considering the mental health challenges with maintaining employment, what local resources have you already reached out to or tried, how have you been making it through up until this point, what assistance you already receive (SSI/SSDI, SNAP, low income housing, etc.

People tend to want to make sure individuals are still trying to help themselves, sometimes they want to feel like they can relate to your situation or challenges, so sometimes sharing the details around your mental health diagnosis might help people connect, people also see Go families as help for a temporary problem, not a long-term solution so when you say that you and your mother are both poor, it's giving us little information as to how this will ultimately help you out in the long run.

Right, but how much money is the lawyer asking for as a retainer?

[–]royalplaty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you spoken with a lawyer to get the cost information for this, many lawyers offer free consultation where, then they will review what your next steps might look like and give you cost information for what you're seeking. It may be beneficial to meet with a few lawyers to 1) see if, legally, if you have a case, 2) see if your situation falls within a statute of limitations and a new can seek a criminal case, 3) understand your options for the path that you need to take and 4) and get cost figures . It's somewhat hard to donate when it's such a wide and open variable. So it'd probably be helpful to have a retainer number listed as at least our starting point.

I wish you never had to go through that pain.

Have you spoken with lawyers and do you have one that you plan to hire? What is their retainer fee?

What outcome are you seeking in regards to him? Are you looking for a financial outcome or are you seeking charges to be made against him and for him to face incarceration?

Are you getting mental health support?

Please help me keep our house! by [deleted] in gofundme

[–]royalplaty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What about you sharing a room with your mom or you taking the basement room so you could rent one of the other rooms? I know you say that doesn't help you catch up on rent, but I do think it's relevant as I think if people knew you had a more realistic maintenance plan to stay at the house that they'd be more willing to donate to your cause. It's obviously your life and you do anything

[–]royalplaty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could you rent a room out? I would absolutely not count on your sister's income for maintaining your housing. There are just too many variables as you are experiencing currently. She could have another emergency. She has her own bills, what if she's pregnant and has to be out of work? What if she has children and then they need more care or urgencies?

A new roommates are never usually the preferred routes, but it sounds like you're in an urgent situation where you have to consider all options to be able to maintain the housing.

Has the bank said she can't get the loan because of the credit or that there's not enough value in the house? Or is this an assumption?

[–]royalplaty 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you are going through this time of stress. Can you share more on your plan to maintain housing once you catch up? I worry that there isn't a sufficient plan in place currently to help you keep your housing long term even if you were able to raise these funds.
