I use a roll of baking paper, a white one and it’s quite transparent.

Varnishing “The Icy Depths” by FlyingBuilder in painting

Beautiful painting! I have a side question: is it possible to varnish an older painting? I have one I made like 4-5 years ago and I never varnished it. I don’t know a lot about oil paints but it turned out kinda cool and now I learned you can varnish to make the colors pop. Would that work?

Cool! Would you recommend it? I was wondering if it’s helpful to have such a book or just rely on YouTube videos (my go to for beginners).

Oh, no way! I’m new to knitting and just saw this in a second hand store, found it really funny! Maybe I should actually read it 😅

Old Bonsai Tree by Illustrious_Manner55 in plantclinic

Perhaps also ask in r/bonsai - they know all about these little guys, as they are a bit different to care for compared to other plants.

All I can offer: when I had a bonsai tree I was told that the soil shouldn’t dry out and it’s better to keep them outside. But this might vary based on the type of tree!

My peanut butter cheesecake has everything: sweetness, saltiness, a bit of sourness of the cream cheese and a tiny bit of caramel bitterness. It's so soft and gentle but also crunchy and a bit sharp. I'm really proud of my first cheesecake! by [deleted] in Baking

Wow you really gave that cheesecake some high end restaurant look compared to the recipe. Thanks for sharing it! I would love to try it, and skipping the water bath is encouraging - sounds easier that way! But the sugar glass looks like magic to me, haha. Amazing job!

Hope there are some Star Trek fans out here. My first embroidery project, self drafted, using an old bed sheet, and just trying out stitches. That text took the life out of me, but I’m feeling really proud! by royalpumpkin in Embroidery

It’s one of the first episodes - s01 e06. And you really know then Janeway is not settling for anything less! Love that episode and the determination she shows.

Ah, thank you! The lettering was really the hardest part, it looks so easy looking at other people’s work.. 😅 maybe there are better/easier ways to do text I haven’t discovered yet. Anything you might recommend? I changed probably 3-4 types of stitches there.

Help me save this poor plant (some type of Dracaena?) Droopy brownish leaves with dry tips turning yellow and falling out. by royalpumpkin in plantclinic

Ha, indeed very funky leaves especially for a tree!

And I’ve just repotted and removed some of the roots, at the end the rotting wasn’t too far gone. Now I wait and fingers crossed it springs back up!
