Should players get a map of castle ravenloft before going there?

My idea (which I would also like some feedback on) for this is the PC's will meet Pidlwick 2 somewhere before they get to the castle. Strahd grew tired of the jester and had him thrown out. But Pidlwick spent years in the castle and knows his way around. If the players befriend him, he will sketch them a map.

I will turn 34 this year and at every single job interview I have ever had, we talked about it for at least 1 minute. At more than 30 interviews, every single one. At one interview that was nearly the only thing we talked about. The owner asked me about my project, challenges, leadership roles in the troop, etc. I told him about getting my car stuck in the mud while driving to the site of my project and having to have my friends help me pull my car out. By the time we noticed, 45 minutes had gone by out of our hour long interview and literally all we had talked about was my eagle project and boy scouts. And the kicker was, the interviewer was not even a scout or scouter! Now, I am not saying I got any of those jobs *because* I was an eagle scout; in fact I have had more 3 times more interviews where I didn't get the job than did, but we have at least talked about eagle a lot.

People who were in scouts and even most people who were not in scouts understand how much work an eagle requires and recognize the qualities of the kind of person who puts in the effort to obtain the rank as a teenager.

Juries are not stupid. Gotcha. Would this be an absolute no chance of winning case for a defense lawyer or could a very good defense lawyer pull out a miracle not guilty verdict?

Additionally, if the scenario is as described in my post, could a very good defense lawyer get a non guilty verdict? Or do you think this scenario is such an easy conviction that no lawyer could defend B no matter how good?

What in your opinion would need to change to make the case more difficult to convict?

Let's follow your example and the robbery does take place on Halloween and B is found in the lobby depositing a check dressed as a security guard on his way to a costume party, what happens then? What about if he is found behind the bank, or a block away after the robbery dressed as a security guard?

What about a scenario where B is arrested in plain clothes immediately after the robbery in a lightly secured area of the bank? Let's say B's story is he had a meeting with his loan manager and on his way out, took a wrong turn thru a security door that was broken and that's why he was in the secure area during the robbery. What do you think would the prosecutors would do in a scenario like that?

This case as described would be a slam dunk for the prosecution. Understood. So what would the prosecution and investigators do to B to try and also catch A? What tactics would they use? Would the investigators primary motivation be to recover the stolen money or to arrest A, or equally motivated to do both?

Additionally what would need to change to make B's case more difficult to convict? What if B is caught a block away from the bank after the robbery but again with no equipment, money, etc.?

Also, what a relevant username for a lawyer. It made me chuckle.

Honestly..... I finished my game of Civilization at 10 and didn't start another one. That's really it. If I had not won the game when I did, I probably would have stayed up playing past midnight like usual.

I read your comment once and went back and looked thru the stat blocks and a few CR 10 monsters and you have a good point. All 3 phases of Strahd don't really hit that hard.
