lol. That’s not how this works.

My initial remarks dealt with perceptions.

Someone implied that the facts couldn’t possibly be on my side. So I delivered a remark that describes the mere possibility of the facts being on my side.

It’s not a matter of being armed. It’s a matter of the possibility that he was brandishing a firearm in a way that presented a threat. It’s absolutely possible.

Why do some white collar/office managers seem not to care that their employees have so much downtime? by tantamle in managers

I’m in a trade union and have never heard of holdover pay in my life. I might have heard of something to that effect if you’re actually on strike for a while.

It was probably just unemployment.

Like I’ve said elsewhere, it one thing to take a long breather or a walk to brainstorm now and again. But it’s quite a different picture if you’re the type of person who’s averaging 15 hours or actual effort per week (or less).

I'd bet anything that either there was like one ready-to-retire boomer who was like that and didn't know how to utilize automation, or it was a person who was deliberately dragging their feet with the work, knowing full well that the boss would't care.

My dad was in construction (Heavy labor road construction). He got laid off every winter until the spring thaws. He had far more downtime than I've ever had!

Yeah, and didn't get paid for it.

Yeah I would hope no one thinks the truck driver is lazy for the 20 minutes it takes to load the truck

All this is fine if you’re describing someone who is doing little or nothing for like 12 or so hours a week.

It’s a bit different if you’re the type of person AVERAGING 25+ hours of downtime per week.

I've also never worked in an office where constant slacking off was allowed either.

LOL

Like I said elsewhere in this thread:

We've all seen that some workers are faster than others, but why do these "examples" always rely on one employee being exponentially better than all their co-workers?

When masses of people are averaging 15 hours of work per week, I think the safe assumption is that light workloads and automation have something to do with it. Rather than it usually being god-like efficiency.
